New guy here..

Greetings. I have a 1993 Mazda Protege that I use as a daily beater. Since I'm always fixing it I thought I would join a good technical Protege forum. Anyways I thought I would just say hi and introduce myself

I suggest you leave ASAP... the protege is a unique car, and yet you use it as a beater, especially when you have Mustangs... tsk tsk my friend...

But for now WELCOME!

Welcome

Nice choice of cars you got there, I especially like the '03 maxmia! I bet you it's as fast as the 5.0 (at least when it was stock)

Thanks guys.

I basically use the protege for a commuter car. I really have no intention of modifying it, I just want to learn how to fix it. It's been such a headache the past few months. My 5.0s are both super mint and clean. One of them has a Vortech on it and runs 11s.

My Intrepid is also super clean and stock. It's actually pretty quick.

As for the Maxima, it's an awesome car...but not really a rocket. I went 14.9 with it (best time). My 94 went 14.6 totally stock and my 89 notchback 5.0 went 14.4 totally stock. I think the auto is holding it back

Thanks guys. As you can see I have a pretty stout list of cars. I have also owned these other cars: 93 RX7 TT, 4 Fbodys, 98 Cobra, 99 GSR, 1990 Mustang GT (fully prepped for open track) and a 95 Supra TT (Actually my sister's car but I used to drive it all the time)

This is why I only look at the pro for transportation, not performance. However I would like to learn more about it when fixing time comes again.

BTW - you wouldn't want a Supra for a daily driver thats why my sister got rid of it.

14.9 isn't too bad, are you a member at maxima.org? I used to hang around there a lot, I love maxima's. There are some '02-'03 guys hitting 14.3 or 14.2 in a bone stock 6spd. I think 14.2 something was the 'record'. They're really quick for a family car

Have any pics of your cars? They sound intruiging!

I have a bunch of pics but they need to be scanned. Im not a member of maxima.org but I may join. The Maxima is a great family car but I have no intentions to hop it up. I basically use the Protege, Intrepid, and Maxima as daily drivers/beaters. They're all very nice cars, but when it comes to performance I'm into Sports cars.

My Protege is pretty clean believe it or not, It's beige on beige and only has 70,000 miles...not bad for a 93'

Yes the gas mileage was horrible, plus it kept breaking down on her(and parts were $$$). It's definitely not the type of car you drive everyday without working on it. Plus she used to complain about the ride quality.

Yeah they have horrible low end and are difficult to launch. Plus they are pigs in the weight dept. But on the highway, watch out they are demons, even in stock trim. The only thing that was faster then my sis' Supra on the highway was my RX7 TT R1 that I used to own and my 94 Mustang GT.
