Need help with cluster removal!!

I just got a lx gauge cluster in the mail today from cablemirc(good guy), thanks man.

Now I have been following Darryl's I think instructions to remove the cluster and so far it has been pretty smooth. Now I just can't remove the top trim bezel(?) from over the steering wheel.

I have taken off so many screws and disconnected so many power outlets that I hope they all go back together so I can have my a/c, rear defroster, clock etc...

I'm such an idiot that I have been fanangling with it for the last 2 hours.

Any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

Here are some pics to help:

dosen't look like you have a tilt collum, but if you do, make sure it's all the way down.

pull the top arch part from the dash, then, by putting your thumb on the bottom of that panel (just under the cruise switch) and your fingers kinda up top in the cluster area, and then your other thumb under the A/C switch and fingers on top, bend the trim bezel as to arch it over the collum. Do it one side at a time, i garauntee it will come off. Just make sure the bezel is free from any snags and it dosen't catch an edge or something, and that all plugs and harnesses are out of the way.

hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply! I just got it off about a half hour ago finally! I kinda just said screw it, gave it a good tugg and the dam thing finally ca,e off.

Ok, I got the speedometer cable in, although the speed is jittery like crazy! If I am going quick in 4th speed(40 mph) and then go into neutral, it will go up to like 75 mph!! I think it is loose I guess??

Now to just tweak and get the trim back on and hopefully at least the a/c and rear defroster work. I could always just get a cheap clock if that don't work

edit: Holy **** Darryl! Your car looks so nice, so many freakin mods done! Your a freakin pro with the protege

btw, what I did is unscrew the 4 bolt under the steering so it will fall on the seat...... then it's so easy to remove the dumb black plastic thing............
