MAZDA Protege CPX

I just bought me a Winter Beater MAZDA PROTEGE CPX 1991 (4door) 1.8L.
This car was to replace my Civic that I had as a Winter Beater before.

Are their any options for this car, such as air intake, etc.? I noticed the electric component on the filter and assumed this wasn't an option.

If anyone has any detail on anything extra for this car or where I can get performance parts, please let me know.
Although I'm just using it for Winter, I still need my tweaks :-)

Thanks for any info.

wow another tuner boy thinkin that the protege is just a winter beater
just to let you know, you will love this car, more than your lil honda...

Before you ask, usually people will tell u to search, but ill help you out neway

If you are looking for an intake, go on ebay n look for a protege intake adaptor, then you can find the tube from vaf to manifold, thatll run u a little bit of money, youre better off puttin some work into it n makin a custom intake off of a civic, its cheaper, n gives ur car character....

if your looking for exhaust, dont go with pacesetter, its cheap for a reason, if i were you, id get straight pipes unless u wanna go all out with apexi, neuspeed, or nething else expensive.

since this isnt a project car, im not gunna say what most people here will say, n thats get the turbo engine, or slap a turbo onto ur lx motor...

p.s. www.corksport.com does wonders

dznutzr4u: were not trying to be rude, but what if we went on your honda board and said i bought a civic for a beater. although its a beater, i wanna mod it for some strange reason defeating the purpose of it being a beater. if you were to get out of the i gotta be trendy puberty stage i think you'd like the protege. there is a lot that can be done to proteges, you just gotta look and have some creativity instead of going to pep boys for an intake.

there are sites out there for our cars, just gotta look (keep in mind that 91-96 escort gt's engine parts are interchangeable) heres a few to start:

www.zxtuner.com
www.corksport.com
www.ctamotorsports.com
www.ptuning.com

And it sounds like this...

http://www3.telus.net/terence_chu/coolstuff/irtb.mpeg

You want 200hp, get a turbo, or be prepared to spend about $15,000, and therafter $8/gallon for race fuel.....
