Just thought I would start out by posting a hello. My wife has a 91 Protege (SOHC) and it has been a great car. Aside from me putting in a new deck and speakers it is stock. I really don't have any plans to mod it, but it does need some work. I drive a 99 Cavalier Z24 with a few mods that runs 15.2 @ 93 mp/h. Haven't been to the track since I installed the cams. Anyway, just thought I would stop in and post a hello.

What size SOHC engine came in the 91 Protege?

the sohc is a 1.9, made by ford
most of us go with the 1.8 dohc, it has more power and more aftermarket products.

what size motor is in you cavalier?

 

The Z24 has a 2.4L DOHC engine.

Are you sure the SOHC engine in my protege is a 1.9L? All the literature I see says the 1991 had either a 1.8L SOHC or a 1.8L DOHC. I know my engine is a SOHC though.

He's wrong. its a 1.8l Mazda engine. SOHC 16 valve.

 

my bad
