I had a similar problem with my Beretta when I had it. If I ran it for a while, and turned it off, I wouldn't be able to start it again for 20 minutes for some reason. I had a whole slew of this wrong, but the guy at the garage said that it was the crank and cam sensors that were bad. But to tell you the truth, I don't even know if our cars HAVE them? Hope this helps.

might have the answer to your problem

Hey whats up. I had almost a similar problem with my car. It also is a 1994 protege. The problem with mine was the spark plugs and wires were so damn old they were in fact stock. also, the distributor cap had to be replaced. They were all original from the day the car was knew. So I guess my question to you would be when was the last time you had a tune up.

You may wanna check the ground wire to your starter (usually grounded to the tranny, or on honda's at least)...my honda had a similiar problem, I replaced plugs, wires, distributor, and it was the damn ground to the starter. Just remove that ground, make sure it gets a clean connection and see if that helps.

Also you may wanna check your alternator, cause if for some reason it isn't chargin the battery anymore, this could cause it to die...but it could be any number of things!

Good luck, let us know the outcome!
