HELP ! To buy 90 Pro, but it needs clutch ?
Hi there,
I have to buy a car fast. Someone around the corner from me has a 90 protege for $300. She says it used to run well but she thinks it needs a new clutch. I have spent hours and hours trying to find out how long / hard / involved that job is for DIYer.
I have enjoyed the post from this forum and if i buy Mazda Ill be a rgular.
B4 I buy the Hayes or the Protege can you tell me what the job involves?
thanks
tom
prospective car: 1990 Protege manual tranny. I guess thats a 1.8 DOHC? If its 90 with manual trans does that mean it has to be an SE ? .
The clutch kits 4 that year come in DOHC and SOHC seems like the diameters are like 7.x and 8.x

Depends on how mechanically inclined you are. To some it is not difficult at all, just takes a little time and patience. You should pick up a book for your car, even if you don't decide to do the clutch. It's always nice to have around. If you have access to a lift to do it, that would be the best way.
