Exhaust or Speakers?

I have enough money now for either a good system, or a great exhaust, but cant decide which to get, right now my exhaust is messed up, so i got the loudness, just not the power, and i have no rear speakers, and 2 blown speakers in the front... i also have a chance at getting some nice looking, but yet low costing rims from a friend...

ahhh decisions decisions, any comments would help....

mmmm exhaust for teh win. Your friend will hold the rims for you hopefully, and speakers get cheaper with time. Im looking to replace my exhaust just because its a annoyance. Even if you have good sound inside your car, its the noise outside that people notice.

full cat back, leave your resonator on, get a decent sounding muffler... might be as cheap as 300, as expensive as 5 or 6. you're car is slow as it is, and you might just get stuck replacing stock parts for inspection (if you're state requires that). but in my opinion, if you don't build up your sound system and you're only running on 2 speakers, the loud exhaust will drive you nuts. my suggestion is to get a decent headunit... alpine or pioneer between $250 & $350, set of decent components for the front and 2/3 ways for your your rear deck, keep the stock wiring, do the **** yourself.. figure on another $200 for the speakers.. and bam, there you go. there's $550 for you, dish out another $150 for some good but 'cheap' subs, $70 for prefab box, $200 for an amp, $50 for wiring, and bam, another $450 to $470, you've got a sound system to wake up the neighbors with. i mean, ****, the exhaust isn't going to make your car THAT much faster. speed costs money, so does sound. and ****, if ohio doesn't care, just drop out your exhaust system to the header, you'll have something louder than a honda . decisions decisions.
peace

Youll hate yourself later if you get a really really loud exhaust. Believe me you will, especially on the highway.

Yes the sound on the highway sux, especially when my speakers rnt loud enuff to overcome nething... but i made my decision on gettin some speakers, im not gunna get a sub or nething just yet, im gettin some 250-watt Alpines, theyre about 120 each around here... as for the head unit, ive had that since the week i got my car, spent 375 on it, its not bad either....i think the exhaust can wait another few months, im just gunna go with pacesetter with some anti-rust rhino lining...

Any suggestions on any cheaper but yet good speakers, i was thinkin of either the alpines mentioned above, some MTX's or clarion (sounds cheezy, but a friend won 3 competitions with them in)....

only plan on spendin about 250 at most, then if im lucky, n my pay check is normal, i can get the exhaust also....

Slop, look at it this way, in my case, my car won't last me another 5 years of driving, i don't make more than $12,000 a year and i'm going back to college, and a new used car is going to run me $2000 to $5000 dollars for something i could actually stand driving. so if i dip $1,000 dollars in motor work ontop of the on going costs of keeping this car running STOCK, i'm actually losing money. the biggest oversight of people in this club is 80% of us CAN'T take apart an engine, and if we actually do, something drastic is gonna go wrong. i'd say a good portion of that 80% don't have the kind of money you're saying to spend on these modifications. yeah, i'll be the first to admit that i'd love to learn, and i'd be the first to spend $1,000 bucks on mods if it'd make my car faster and i had the cash flow, but i don't, this is a daily driver AND project car. just my take on the whole matter. kid, save your money and get a NEW CAR!

Good sounding quality speakers are dumb? How can you stand to listen to the factory ones in our cars?? I haven't swapped mine out of better ones... haven't even gotten a new head unit... but I had a quality sound system in my last Protege and I LOVED it! I mean you don't have to go with a big "system" and go deaf, just replace your stock speakers with something better, get a good CD player, and then maybe a little bit of bass like a 10" subwoofer... that's what I'm gonna do.
