Unhappy Earl Scheib/Maaco

Should I get a paint job at one of these places? I think Maaco is a little more expensive. I don't know. Does anybody have experience with them?

dont trash earl yet, take a look at my car, i got it sprayed by earl and they gave me a 6 yr warranty. given the prep work was basically done for them by me. it cost me 500 for their top of the line paint job.

Unhappy Well

I definitely think I'll be doing Earl Scheib. I'm going to get the top of the line with my coupon that shaves I think $300 off the price. Woo. I won't tell them I have the coupon until after they give me the estimate so they don't go trying to raise the price just because I have the coupon. I'm still thinking about rims though. I don't know if I want to pay $600 for some metal but the ones I want to get look so tight. I don't know... sigh.

Talking

I think I'm going with Earl Scheib. I never even considered Maaco. The name just sounded too cheap for me . I've seen some good Earl Scheib jobs. I have a feeling if I get on their *** and make sure they do a quality job and insist on it, plus act like I know what I'm saying, then I'll get a good paint job. I'm going to lie my *** off and say something like:

"5 of my friends all got paint jobs from other Earl Scheibs and they all told me that the prep work is what matters. You guys are going to pay very careful attention to detail right so I don't get any orange peel or anything, right?" and basically BS some lies so they think I know what I'm talking about and that I mean business. I'll ask about their warranties and read them in front of their face and ask about every detail. XD $500 is a lot of money.

PRimer the sheet metal and drive it to a REAL body shop...tell them what you have and ask them to spraypaint your car. It will cost about $800 if you get like 2-3 coats and 1 coat of clearcoat on average and will look good.
the thing about that is that most of the REAL paint places wont touch a prepped car due to the fact that you could come back and have orangepeel due to YOUR own prep work and try to make them redo the car. it is easier for them to tell you NO rather than go thru the trouble.

just whatever you do, dont go to Maaco. they f'ed my car up something badly. im still fighting with them to get it fixed.

ive estimated that they did over $800 worth of damage to parts just by using a sander carelessly.
