is putting a dohc ecu into my sohc possible since hondas, neons and others can easily do so? If so what exactly has to be done, do i have to have it programmed or add a chip to it? will it screw my engine up, or cause things to not work properly? from what i know about this is that you can gain some power from doing this.

You will have NO benefit on doing this..... it isn't a honda, it isn't a neon, it's a waste of time.

the only reason why was because my brother crashed his 94 pro lx and i get first pick on any parts but i guess there will be no need to do any more looking since the engine has 235,000 on it

before I could get a ECU for the DOHC I was using the ECU from my 1.6L 8 valves with the DOHC installed and I run it like that for a few days. The fuel cut was going at 6500 RPM and it run ok. Of course it runs better with the original DOHC ECU.

since we are on this subject I need to ask, I have been looking for a dohc pro, but I could only find sohc, I already have a dohc engine so if I buy a sohc pro and do the engine swap do i just have to plug in the dohc cpu on it and it will it plug right in I also have the dohc cpu. I already done a dohc to dohc engine change so I know I could do that but cpu I dont know nothing about

I think as long as you keep the appropriate ECU with the type of engine/tranny you have in there, it shouldn't make a difference wheter it's a DX or LX. (Is that what you're asking? Sorry bit tired)

so they would both plug right in or do you swap the wire harness also(dohc cpu and sohc cpu).

You don't have to change the wire harness, I'm not so sure if you even have to ad any wires like I had to when I did the engine swap, since I have a 90 323 and not a Protege model. If the DX Protege (SOHC) comes already with the VICS System (Variable Intake Control System) and has 4 wires going to the distributor, then you probably don't have to add any wires, but worst case senario, you'll have to add them, no big deal.

how much? I am not looking for a fancy one since I am going to tear out the int . and anything else that adds weight, its going to be a nascar short track car on a oval track called (sport compacts).
I used to have 91 egt but they changed the rules to 1990 and older and thats why I am going with a protege since I did so well with the egt. thats where the engine and cpu and any suspension parts are going to come from. let me know

the track is called orange show speedway and perris auto speedway, But its a stock class so unless you have another car you wont be able to run your 323 because of the swap, plus you dont want to tear your car up to where it wont be street legal, but come out and watch and maybe build your self one. season is over for now till march.
