clunk?

ok when i shift into first gear and let the clutch out i get a kinda clunk feel/noice
and it will happen again when i shift into 2nd

any ideas why that is? i was thinking motor mount but a friend said that if i dont get it in reverse its no motor mount, but he knows autos more than sticks

also i have a badd cv joint on my pass thats gettin relaced on wed, but would that cause that clunk?

1990 sohc 5 speed
thanks

as far as i know..that doesn't sound like the cv axle---usually it will make like a clunky noise when you slow down @ a red light or come to any stops but i've never heard it affecting anything that has to do with the clutch-- ...
