Unhappy Changing brake rotors?

My front right rotor is making a squeling noise whenever I drive around, that's without applying the brakes. It never did that until I had to slam on my brakes the other day. Does any one know what might be the problem and and how to fix it? How easy is it?

so the pads could be whats making the noise? how do they make that noise, does it have to do with the rotor?

Pad wears down to the point that the squeelers are exposed (a small bit of metal) which act as an audible warning (metal to metal contact with the brake disc) that your pads are near death's door and it's time to change them.
Brake indicators gradually kick in though, once the pads are at the end of their lives like you said. Dan stated that it all of a sudden occured when he had to hit the brakes very hard. I suspect something else???

Maybe some of the retaining clips that fasten the brake pads to the calipers slipped off due to the hard braking, causing the pads to engage all the time. Is this a possible scenario??? It happened to me on my rear drums from "e-braking", my e-brake spring "sprung" and left the LH e-brake engaged. JMO...

Your pads could be vibrating, especially if the noise began after you slammed on the brakes. Check how much they are worn off, and if they still do have life on them, just make sure you brush off some dust or rust that might have collected there over time.

There are many rotors out there, like KVR, but you will not find any difference in stopping, unless you brake from 100+ mph. In day to day driving, you won't find any difference. Even if you get carbon fiber brake pads, the only difference you will find is that they won't fade, and they are extremely dirty, they make a lot of dust. It is really not worth it, unless you are racing the car.
