Hmm... I'm having this problem with my automatic seatbelt where on the driver's side, the seatbelt movement is all jacked up. When I open the door, its supposed to move forward, and when I close the door, its supposed to move backward into place. But, most of the time, I open the door and the seatbelt stays there. Sometimes, the seatbelt moves back and forth... how can I fix this? Thanks

Sounds like the door pin is screwed up. Try replacing that. Not sure how much a new one costs though...

 

does your seat belt move back and forth towards the front of the car like it's on crack? my seat belt has the same problem, just never had the money to give a **** . if you solve the problem, keep us posted.

I checked the door pin, but it seems that that does not affect the movement of the automatic seatbelt. It is actually on the door; the hole that locks onto the metal ring on the frame of the car, that makes the motor work. I'm still looking into it, so I'll let u all know if I find anything.

 

this is exactly what marc is talking about bud, just throw a screw driver and LOOSELY set it into the locking pin and see if you can get the seat belt to go crazy... my whole door's fucked up, so i'm not even bothering with this. i was told prior it had something to do with faulty wiring to the door latch mechanism... don't know what to tell you, ask a mechanic or the dealership.

get your VIN number and put it into mazdas site for recalls, my car had the "door/seatbelt" recall. I took it in 15 mins and $0 dollars later my drivers side seatbelt worked like it was brand new.

The seatbelts are directly "tied in" to the door pin. When its open the belts move to let you out and when closed move the belts back. Try this with the ignition on, open your door the seatbelt will move to the open position. Now close the door, the seatbelt will move to the closed position. Now do it with the car off. When you open the door the seatbelt should open but will stay put when you close the door and wont move untill you turn the car on. If the door pin is screwed the car wont know if the door is open or not and wont be able to tell which way to move the seatbelts. My passenger side is fucked up, and the seatbelt will only move with the ignition in the "ON" position. Plus the lights dont always come on when you open that door, you have to jiggle the door switch. If it works with the car on but not when its off, the door pin is most likely the problem. My drivers side is starting to do it too. So Im about 99% sure its your door pin.

 

Just to clarify again... the sensor that controls the seatbelts is NOT the one that is hooked into the dome light. It's on the door hinge, I believe.
