90 vs. 91 LX's
90 vs. 91 LX's
Need overall advice on a 90LX vs. a 91 LX..... Looking for engine crank differences....as well as any other differences througout the car...
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
same exact car inside out - except the 90 had black door handles; 91 came with body color door handles.
as far as the crank, wish i knew more specifics on it. with a 90 you definitely run the risk of developing crank snout problems. it can be fixed however with welding or loctite depending on how bad it is.
i bought my 91 in December of 90....in other words, a VERY early 91 model. 218K, 3 timing belt changes - and no crank problems.

Wait there're a couple other differences. I just finished swaping my 90 lx into my 91 lx. I own a slightly crashed 90 lx and I'm throwing in the towel on her (found out that I had 30 p.s.i. in #2 cylinder & frame, fenders, and hood are tweaked.
Came across a 91 lx that had been salvaged. Clean shell, but interior and motor were done, front windshield was removed thus, it had a year or two of rain and weather beating down on the dash and all electrical under the hood. It took a week, but I stripped both cars COMPLETELY of every wire, harness, clip, everything! I'd done extensive mods to the interior in my 90 ( Kickpanels, door buildup's, sub enclosure for 10's and 12's).
Differences:
-Harnesses for the D and P door's same, except one clip.
-My 90 didn't have rear child safety latches in the doors, 91 does.
There's a few misc. other differences, but just thought I'd elucidate for the O.G. veterans of this forum.

as he said, identical, pretty sure the crank snout was unchanged until 93 - 94.
I have owned mine since August 1990, no problems yet....

Oh, and my '90 (made 12/89, owned since 1/90) also has rear door child locks. Maybe it's a Canadian thing (the '90 without).
