Talking 323 is on the road

So I got the 323's plates and registration and all this morning...
I am so glad, I parked the Protege in the yard and just took the 323 to work. I will know have the flexibility of having my winter car and also my summer go getter , or get her.. lol ....

I will also have the time to pull the motor out of the Protege , which I plan to do once I get a nice weather stretch ...

oh well , I am just happy to have it on the road ...

Well here is a photo of the center console..
It was so filthy , I had to strip it down , clean it , soap it down and then dry it off..
Then sanded it down ....
I did not really do the greatest job with it , mainly because it's my hoptie ...

gas mileage is wicked bad.

The gas mileage on the 323 is wicked bad,
I drove a 112 miles and barely reached 3/4 tank of gas. I filled up on Friday night and have driven the car all weekend. the needle has barely touched 1/4 bellow full.
It's crazy the gas mileage this car gets.
I have not driven the Protege all weekend. I think I will drop out the 1.5 next saturday.....

fill up the gas tank and record the mileage or reset your trip odometer, run it 100 miles or more to get an accurate reading, go and fill up your gas tank again and figure out exactly, to the tenth of a mile how many miles you got on that little bit of gas and divide the mileage by the exact measure of gallons it took to fill your tank up. following the god damn gas needle is worthless. in my protege, i can't run more than 180 miles without needing to fill my tank up cause for some reason, the last 3 gallons of gas, i can't rev the engine over 3,000 rpms without the engine sputtering and the fuel pump starving to suck more gas out of the tank. my typical readings, the needle drops just below F after 40 miles, doesn't hit 3/4 till 95 miles, can go all the way up to 150 miles at half a tank, and from there on, it just sinks. if you follow your gas gauge to figure on your gas mileage, you're wrong.
peace

well the gas in the 323 is not done yet, I will let you know how much mpg it gets once I finish the tank , I will run it down to E and then fill up and divide the miles by the amount of gallons or something like that. I know how to do it...
But as for my protege with the 1.5 dohc, I easily get 320 to 350 miles on a full tank and tend to reach 175 on half a tank..approx.

The Protege steadily gets 30+ mpg ... and has 105k on the clock with a worn clutch .
the 323 has 162k on the clock and is auto , needs an oil change and maybe some new plugs... and some new tranny fluid...
then I will measure the 323 once more and see what we come up with

The last tank with my 323 automatic was horrible... A big 15L/100km, I beat it all the tank..... I put 45L for approx 300km....

On my manual one(the engine on this one have 2.5 time more milleage) I can do something like 450-480km with 42-45L mostly city,I'm a little bit hard on it but not too much, found it pretty good

323 has an open element filter also ...
I usually get approx. 180 at half tank in the protege and 320 to 330 for a full tank, so you may need to check your car out , or lay off the lead feet pills ..lol .... j/k

I did not fully look at the clock , but the tank is almost on E and the mileage is at about 300.. I am not going to fill the tank so, I will just have to figure on using all the tanks capacity aside for 2 gallons and measure the miles.
