can i use the starter off the 1.6 liter tranny on the 1.8 tranny? please say yes

Yes, the starter between the 1.6L and 1.8L are interchangable.

I've been searching high and low myself for parts that are interchangeable between the 1.8 and 1.6 for a spare motor build up for my Miata. Fortunately, several parts are directly interchangeable.
