More on urethane sway bar bushings

I did a quick search on the web for "protege urethane sway bar bushings" and my first hit was Prothane. They list urethane bar bushings and end link bushings for our cars! Too cool

http://macsspring.com/website/urethane-mazda.htm

They list a front bar of 3/4" (19mm) and a rear bar of 15/16" (23.5mm, which seems way too big.) Anyway, the front bushings are $6.57 and the end link kit is $13.17. Nice prices, I'd say.

I may just order some since I'll be working on the suspension to install the new struts, might as well do more while it's apart and my hands are frozen.

Well, that 3/4" bushing will work for the front if you have a SOHC 1st-gen Protege (SE/DX) which uses a 19.1mm front bar, but the LX uses a 22mm front bar. All of the 1st-gen Proteges use a 20mm rear bar, so no help there.

Davard,
For what it's worth, Tim at Mazda Motorsports said that the rear sway bar on the 92 LX (according to his "book") is 21 mm. I didn't believe him at first since the ST bar is 22 mm. I went under the car and measured it myself with a cresent wrench and then a ruler (so it's a little rough). I came up with 21 mm. Have you seen the 20mm printed anywhere?

I have a workshop manual for my '90 (which is where I got the numbers from), but I guess a running change is possible, since the '92s are a mid-life refreshing of the Protege (different interior and tail treatment being the most obvious changes).
