k i was looking through a flier today, and came across these things,
they are called spring locks or lox. cant find anything about them on the net, BUT the site says they are used to lower/raise your car spring, and as far as i know, thats all you need to do to lower a car,

i was wondering if these wound be a ghetto way that actually works in lowing your car?, if somehow you can clamp those 2 things onto each spring and compress a coil a bit, that should in turn lower the car. but looking at the picture, you would first have to reverse the brackets and bolts to compress rather then push out .

so whay do you think?

they are just spring compressors that stay on your springs. They just clamp your coils together and it makes it lower. It's pretty damn ghetto. I mean look at 2.99 per wheel or like 500 for ground controll suspension, like the old saying " you get what you pay for". Thats not for performance, just for Pep Boys tunning.

but they will lower your car right? its will be more like cutting your springs rather then getting coilover

and im not going to performance, i just need to know if these are safe to use, i dont want them getting loose or sliding down when i go over a bump or something

dude, i wouldnt trust them any farther than i could spit them. and i couldnt even fit them in my mouth. ( did that make any sense?) Go on ebay, look up drop zone coil overs. they are like $150 shipped. they are quality.

here is the description another site gives as for coilovers, its to late for those if i knew about this forum when i got my car, i would have gotten them. but now im saving up for something faster, and the v6 swap for this car is to much 4300cdn, even though it'll let me put all those cocky nice new gsr's around here in their place

Okay, I put those clamps on my car...you can also get them at auto zone. Yes they did lower the car, in fact, I got about 2" with them, and for extra stability, put 2 clamps on each spring, and for good measure, also to be safe, clamp 2 coils of the spring completely together, that way you know that you are even all the way around and won't mess up your suspension or tires too badly. However, I recently got married and am having a kid, so I decided better safe than sorry, took the clamps off, and am saving for some eibach springs. I never had any problems with them...but people sure did have alot of negative things to say...wether they were just sceptical, so they thought they would talk crap, or had really had bad experiences, I don't know...I never had problems...but just wanted the peace of mind from having a good set of springs instead...best of luck with whatever you end up doing!

just few questions, did you clamp the spring at the top or bottom?

this drop is a yes for me, cause im planning on getter a newer car next winter, so i dont want to spend alot of money on this one, but i still want to have fun with it,

as for putting 2 on each spring, i think thats the only safe way to do that, they come 2 in a pack and with such a cheap way of lowering the car, i will be careful when doing this,

cant wait though , gonna go out and get them tomorrow

i tryed that on my old Volvo. they lowered the thing like a whopping .25". not all that great. plus, when i tryed to take them off two months later, they had rubbed against the spring seat and worn off the threads. i had to break out the zizwheel to get them off.

my opinion: save your money for coilovers/springs. youll be glad in the end.

these are the only 2 listings on ebay currently, but walk away with a set of lowering springs for $129 plus 25 shipping... can't beat it.

oh, bit of a suggestion, pick up some struts while you're at it and have them installed at the same time... you might actually save money with your mechanic.

Which is better aerospeed or dropzone?
Seems see dropzone for chaeper here and there. I want to put those with the tokico s/r's that are made for the zx2. That together would make your handling pretty sweet.
