I must admit that I know very little about the engine controls in the Protege.

Anyone know if the ignition and fuel is controlled by a microprocessor?

If so, anyone know of a performance micro for this model?

I am sort of assuming that the Protege engine management system is not that sophisticated since I've seen no mention of such a mod on this board.

Because I'm tired, the answers to your questions are:

No

Yes

No, not really.

Others will undoubtedly fill in the blanks.

Superchips use to offer a reprogrammed ecu but, they have discontinued everything for Mazda cars except the B-series trucks. Rather sad if you ask me any.
