rx-7 air flow meter

hi all.. im new to protege club and have noticed that many people make reference to a rx7 afm on their protege...
a few questions .. what is the advantage of the rx7 afm over a stock protege afm??
are there any special mods to make this work ???
i have a 92 sohc 5spd... i work at a mazda dealer and have access to many rx7/protege parts ...looking to make my pro come alive ..................GT
