The VICS is located on the 26 pin connector (bigger one) and is positioned 4th, top row from the left.

VICS again

Cool thanks for the info. So that's the wire that goes to the ECU. So bigger connector 4th from left on the top row. Cool. I have to run both wires, so I beleive the black/red one goes to the ECU - where does the other VICS wire go?

Another question for the quru's - What type of oxegen sensor (s) is in the 1994 protege 1.8L? I keep getting a cel code of 15 which is an O2 inactivation code.

The other wire is ground, just splice it with the fuel injector harness. All four injectors are spliced together into one wire.

As for the oxygen sensor, they're all the same, it's time for a new oxygen sensor. I have one I can sell you (brand new in the box).

cool. But is it a four wire o2 sensor or a one wire o2 sensor? and how many oxegen sensors are in the system? cause I get a cel code of 15 which is supposedly the left o2 sensor?

I'm gonna check my codes tomorrow and see if it's still coming up
thanks

There is only 1 O2 sensor and it is a single wire.

That's cool. So why do you think I am getting a code 15?
I wanna check the wiring.....so
what pin-out is the oxegen sensor? and what colour is the wire?

Once I make sure that the pin-out is correct. I can double check that the o2 sensor is grounded properly (or is a bad o2 sensor). I had a custom downpipe put on with a custom o2 port on it. Did that because the header I got with the BP engine, was a 4-1 with no o2 port. I thought it was pretty weird.
I got a pic of it at http://members.cardomain.com/typhoonk

any ideas?

o2

You are getting a code 15 because it is running lean or too rich. I am not 100% sure if there is a code for a bod o2 sensor, but here might be. I would go ahead and just replace the o2 sensor, its eeasy and will make the car run a little smoother than you 10+year old one.

Yep gonna go to my parts store for the O2 sensor - just realized I was using a mx-3 four cylinder one instead of the protege one. Woops.

Anyway I'll let you know if that's the case.

Got Vics working no problem with your info - thanks a lot!!! I love VICS!!

Oh , by the way this protege engine was transplanted into a 1992 mx-3 - and I'm still using the mx-3 wiring harness. That's what with all wiring question..

thanks for the VICS info - it was gold!!! and for the oxegen sensor info - I just replaced the o2 sensor and it works fine!!! as well as my air/fuel gauge!!! Two-fer!!!

When I went into get my new o2 sensor, there was the 1994 and the 1993 protege. The 1993 had the single wire o2 sensor on the manifold or the down pipe. The 1994 had the single o2 sensor on the manifold, as well as a four wire o2 sensor after the pre-cat. Don't know if that's correct but that's what the parts guy said. The two one wire o2 sensors are the same. But I put the new one wire in and I got no problems - so I guess the ecu I got was from a 1993 protege.

thanks again guys!!!!!
