Now I have a new question... Since I have to get new axles, suspension, and brakes from a mx-6 for this swap, will I end up with 5-lug in the front and still have 4 lug in the rear??? Maybe I'm thinking crazy, but swapping all those parts in the front would normally change that, no?

If you grab the rotors off of an MX3 you can stay 4 lug. I am not sure if the MX6/626 rear rotors are a swap part or not...

Another bump ...

Since the topic of V6 swap has come up lately, how about adding some current info related to that here?

Well since the third gen was barely even around at the time this thread was made, and everyone was still in the shock and awe stage about how friggin godly the FS-DE was (lol), I'll add this:

It has been done in the third gens.. numerous times. You can even use your stock tranny internals, just gotta swap the bellhousing. Things bolt right up, but the ECU/wiring is a pain since everything is ECU controlled in the 3rd gen basically.

I don't think anyone in the states has done it though, it's all people from Quebec doing it. There's a shop that I think will do the whole swap for $5k.

Hey guys haven't posted in a while but i thought i would add my 2 cents seeing as i have done this swap twice into a 323 and a protege, the parts that you need are as followed:
-MX-3/MX-6 tranny (or the ford probe seeing as its the same car)
-MX-3 engine wiring harnes and ecu if you choose(i went with the kl-03 ecu)
-MX-3 driveshafts
-MX-3 motormounts (the stock mounts do not work already tried)
-MX-3 alternator/power steering pump and A/C compressor if you choose so
-MX-3 fuel pump
-MX-3 crossmember
-MX-3 or MX-6 intake manifold truthfully the MX-6/probe maifold flows better(this is only needed if you go with the JDM V6)
pretty much find a mx-3 donnar car

as for needing to change suspension the answer is NO YOU DONT HAVE TO also using the MX-6 suspsension will not work either if you want you can use the mx-3 rotors for a bigger break set up remember all the parts need with be a MX-3 see as the engine bays are similar, trust me its a great set up and very fast the engine i went with was the KF-ZE (jdm version of the KL-03) has 170hp and 160ft of torque just runs a higher compression. Now also remember depending on what engine you go with (this is for those looking at the KL-ZE JDM motor) you will need to change the intake manifold the KL-ZE manifold setup has a longer extension on the TB which hits the brake master cylinder. As for fit it is a snug fit but trust me it does fit and is truly a great sleeper hope this helps any questions feel free to ask the swap is truly quick with all the parts that i listed i did mine in a day
