Ive got the ignition pretty much done i just need to know if i use the magnetic pickup wire.If you dont know:could you tell me someone that would?-94-protege-SOHC-

 

hey when you get the ignition system hooked up let me know what differance it makes i'm thinking of getting the msd ignition

 

If my memory serves me right, I think I read somewhere that MSD products do not work especially well on the Protege.

I generally thought that people did this to replace older ignition style systems that cause problems and wear out (i.e. replacing the points all the time).

i think groharlem did this, dont know if it worked out correctly. I know right now he doesnt have the MSD on his car...

 

I just talked to a mechanic and he told me everything I needed to know and im hooking it up this weekend, well see what happens

 

I have an MSD setup on my 1994 323 1.6SOHC. Specifically, I have an MSD-SCI with a Blaster2 coil. I have had absolutely no problems at all. I saw a noticeable increase in torque off the line and throughout the RPM range. I also saw MUCH better idle. It is hard to say how much HP I gained with the mod but the power is definitely there. I would suggest you top off the installation with some 8.5MM spark plug wires and a new rotor and distributor cap (only need these last two if you rotor and cap have mileage on them). Overall it is a very good investment.

BTW: If you have a dash cluster with a factory tachometer you will need an MSD Tach-adapter for the tach to function. I believe the part number is MSD-8910. If you install the MSD components and do not use this adapter your car will work fine but your tach will not register your RPMs.
