Installed the new intake today , but....

I installed the intake in the 323 .. But when driving I feal like I lost some low end power, the the car picks up slower.....
The car picked up a lot faster before the intake .. hmmm has anyone also noticed this ...

anyone have any quims on why this might be .. Do I need to adjust the VAF ,,, do you guys have any pics of how to do this , I know I saw some on the net , but I can't remeber where, I have to check Mazdaspeedwests site again and see if it was on there...

I also cleaned out the throttle body also ... sprayed it out and gave the flip door a good cleaning lol ...
The car runs sweet though , just need to fix the muffler now ...

I will have pics tonight

Did you replace the VAF as well? If not, then there's no need to adjust it.

what kind of intake? I'm gonna guess that if you made it yourself, and you used a 3" pipe....that will hurt some low end.

and for future reference, my site www.mazdaracer.com

When I put a cone filter on my Pro I noticed a slight loss of low end power as well. Didn't notice it at first, but after a few days of driving, I started feeling it more and more. Loss of low end, but definately an improvement in mid to high end power. I guess if you weigh them out there's not that much of a difference at the end. I did eventually make an improvised CAI, so I am overall pretty happy with how much air gets into the engine.

Have you considered an RX-7 VAF as well?

hey bruce, from my knowledge of what people have told me from discussions in the past, cone filters decrease torque but increases a little hp. so that might explain your little low end problem when u start driving (from a stop?). someone correct me if im wrong

The stock air box is restrictive for mid-top end power but offers good low end grunt (more so than a cone filter) In order to get that low end back, either fanagel a CAI into the stock airbox or start going to town (header, exhaust, etc, etc, etc....)
