Unhappy HOLD button keeps blinking!

Yesterday when I started my car, I noticed that the HOLD button was flashing so I took it for a ride to see wat was wrong with it. When i put it in D it feels like its in L (that forced feeling) and then after 4 RPM it goes away and feels normal like in second gear. the light flashes continously and I already did a search on it and checked the TBS but this is what it says about "HOLD BUTTON FLASH"
-Water droplets from snow inside the fresh air duct may drip down onto and enter the PCME causing a short on the circuit board-Water droplets from snow inside the fresh air duct may drip down onto and enter the PCME causing a short on the circuit board.
but I dun think that the short made the tanny do what it does.
Do you have any ideas on what might be wrong with it??

Well I had the same problem, but it started doing it when I switched my auto tranny to a manual in my old car. I'm assuming that you didn't do this. I forgot what my dad did to make it go away... not sure what to tell ya.

I can say one thing about this.....

POOF! YOU'RE FUCKED!

Your tranny is about to go out. both times my tranny went out, that is what it did.

Be prepared to pay out the ***, unless you can find a used one for cheap.

P.S.

Oh yeah, shouldn't it be:
I still can't understand why people "Hook up" civics."?

The hold button flashing means that there's a code in the computer involving the transmission. To get to code connect a jumper wire between the ten and ground pin in the diagnostic box then call a mazda dealer and ask i'm what te number means. THe code will read has blink of the check engine light it will flash rapidly first count the number of time then there's going to be another serie of slower flash count them the first set his you first code number and the second set his the second one. And thewy are right about those transmission price a rebuild transmission for those are around 1400cdn at the shop. If you go with a scrap yard i would sugest letting them install it has they will give you a warranty but remember that and automatic tranny his not the same thing has a manual. A manual if it works when they install it and you are carefull it will always work but an auto may brake a few months later.

dude the code is **** .... the trany is fucked and if you listened to the post he said ................Yesterday when I started my car, I noticed that the HOLD button was flashing so I took it for a ride to see wat was wrong with it. "- that means that the trany had problems ......codes dont make the trany feel forced on different gears.

The codes will tell you what component caused the hold light to flash

Thanks for the reply Chastan oh and by the way neowave i'm an up and down in a transmission shop near montreal so i guess i know transmission and the electronic that goes around it. The code may tell you if it's only a sensor that's defect and yes a sensor can cause the transmission to go wrong even if the clutch inside it are all correct.

hmmmmmmmmmm yes codes might have something to with the trany jumping gears but not on the 1st gen model. the newer cars over the year 95 run on obi2 which is much more advan..... than the 1st gen from the early 90s ..

Here are the codes you can pull from the computer (courtesy of a post by 90&00 Protege, can't find my own shop manual)

Throttle Sensor
Vehicle Speed Sensor
Pulse Generator
1-2 Solenoid
2-3 Solenoid
3-4 Solenoid
Lockup Solenoid
Shift Signal

The hold light will not flash for no reason. It detected a fault in one of these, surely one of these can cause problems. OBDII my ***!
