Lightbulb the GTX motor

I wanted to know if the only thing different from the Protege LX motor and the GTX motor is the exhaust, intake manifold and the tubro. If that is true then could I buy a GTX exhaust manifold and the tubro then the intake manifold. If that is true why hasn't everybody done it?

I have been looking into the whole entire BPT motor and just doing that. But since my lx has like 165000 miles i have to buy a new motor and put that in or rebuild the one in there. But I hope that the motor in the car new will not go out because when I get the new motor I will not put it in until i have replaced everything that i could replace and then get all the little ponies that i could out of the tubro motor.

p.s

i have another ? about the crankshaft pulley not wanting to come off. If i could get some help on that one too that would be great.

I would say approximately 10-15% at the minimum. I bolted on a P&P N/A head and made 203whp at stock boost. As opposed to 172whp with the GTX head.

172whp from a GTX engine at stock boost levels? Isn't that a lot, are the engines under-rated or something seeing that they're rated at 180hp?? Maybe this is with an intake or bigger IC or something?

E6K, 450cc injectors, 3" exhaust. Same mods now.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I can't belive the gain with a NA head on it though, that's unbelievable. Did you ever go to the track then last week? You were hinting about it in that one post, but never said anything else about it (to my reckolection).

the crank shaft pulley has 4x 10mm bolts, it should come off very easily. The big nut in the middle is for the timming belt gear behind the pulley.
