DOHC--->SOHC mtx compatability?

Hi guys, I have a quick question about the trannys on the 1st gen protege. I am looking at swapping my SOHC 5sp tranny into a DOHC protege. I know they are different trannys but my Haynes manual states they are "virtually" identical except for different gear ratios. So will my 5sp SOHC tranny bolt up to a DOHC engine?

On the other Protege board they are saying I am gonna need to use the mounts and axles from the dx (and maybe the flywheel/clutch?) to swap to the lx. I got the LX by the way and the engine runs good. I can't wait to drive it, the guy I bought it from said it was fast. Maybe I can race and beat some Hondas, lol. If this thing is fast it sure is a sleeper, the paint is in decent condition but I'm not sure if I like the grey.
