DOHC Head to SOHC Block , need info...

Well... My oil pump failed and my engine is broken (two rods & scratched crankshaft) It' realy hard to find a good DOHC crankshaft or an shortblock in good shape... so I decide to use an SOHC shortblock that I found realy cheap and is in realy good shape...
... But I need some info. Would I loose too much torque whit this swap ? The DOHC crankshaft got 8 weights and the SOHC got 4.
Please need help... tell me something about the down side of doing this swap...
THANKS.

You would also lose a bit of compression, since the SOHC pistons are lower compression, but if your pistons are still good out of your DOHC, rering em, and swap em into the SOHC block.

I'm not so shure about that info of lower compression, there's one here in quebec that did a dohc head swap on a sohc and has more compression then a stock dohc. He has the fastest all motor protege in quebec (quote from nappierville dragway).

Pd... I got a set of 10:0.1 Miata pistons from my old engine , combined whit .30 shaved head , i think compresion was not an isue

I think... the less rotating mass of the SOHC crankshaft would help improve aceleration on my All Motor status. Ithink this would help to rev quicker... I'm just supoust

ok wow i'm calling all of you retarded

for starters. if you want a DOHC do a LONG block swap, believe me you will save yourself a world of hurt.

less rotating mass will not aid in acceleration in the crank. A broken crank will get you nowhere concidering that 2 turns of the crank is one otto cycle. look a lighter crank will have more cons that pros. as will a lighter flywheel. the BP-DE and BP-ME need rotating mass. else we kill this thing called the transsmission. ever heard of it??? momentum, our engines were designed around that principle.
