Exclamation Davard...crank snout failure question?

I've been meaning to ask about your original engine's crank snout failure....

Do you have any idea as to why yours failed? I know the early Miata 90-91 had this problem because of the poor crank snout design....i just wonder if our 'early' cranks could have the same flawed design. Or did yours just fail for no other reason than it was high mileage???

Just curious for any info as my engine is getting up there

Wonder too if they changed the crank design later on - on our 1st gens...
