i have to push my clutch all the way to the floor and I wanted to know if i should buy a new clutch and put it in. if i had to put it in is it possibly to do it myself or do i have to take it to a shop. if i had to take it to a shop how much it is going to cost.

it may just need adjusting. I wouldn't suggest doing it yourself if you've never done such a thing, atleast find a buddy who's done it before.

Although, the cable may have become stretched...

i have to push the pedal all the way to the floor. in my friends protege basically the same car his pedal does not have to go all the way to the floor. so if i can replace other parts that does not cost a lot and that i can replace all by my self then that would be cool.

At the shop I work at, the owner usually charges in the range of $5-600 for a clutch replacement. See if it can be adjusted and let us know!! I have to do mine, and I haven't even looked to see what type of system it is, hydro or cable??

its hydraulic.
check your brake/clutch fluid resevoir; it may need some fluid. also if you're losing fluid, the problem might just be the clutch slave cylinder on the trans. it eventally will wear out and start leaking causing clutch problems...

Yeah I saw how it is tied in with the brake reservoir, kind of a neat idea, plus it saves room too. BUT, it doesn't bode well for my clutch, since it's hydro, it can't be adjusted, and it slips like crazy in 1 and 2, if I hammer it. If anyone knows who makes a good strong clutch/pressure plate kit, let us know.

I agree that it's most likely the hydraulic. The hydraulic runs off the same fluid as the brakes. You may need to bleed the fluid at the hydraulic untill there's less play in the clutch.

If you're thinking about replacing the clutch, it's a BIG job. We ended up taking half the engine apart to get the tranny off. Make sure you go to MotorSportConnect.com and check out the "Sneak Peek" video before you replace your clutch :-)

the reservoir is full. but i still have to pedal. i have to push the pedal all the way to the floor. but i can get on it and the clucth will not slip. i was reading in my book and they were saying that some master thing could be going out? so of this has happened to somebody that would be great if i could find out before it brokes down.
