My Setup...

Well my setup wasn't cheap...In fact my setup was a whole lot more than i expected and im still not done.

GTX motor:1000

Gauges:$120

T.Timer: $100

SSQ BOV: $250 (with flange)

Motor Mounts: $170

Intercooler: $160

BPT Computer $200

Radiator: $95

Rebuilt Tranny: $105 (my pops rebuilds tranny's :D )

thas $2200...and i still need Intercooler Piping,Exhaust Piping,..and Wiring.. :( By the time im done ill be over $3000. Doing this setup is defenitly not cheap...it's really "how fast do u wanna go"..or im my case..i just wanna have a fast nice looking car that no one else;wants, has, or would even think of hooking up. Here in S.Florida its all about the HONDAS..now imagine rolling up in a Turbo Protege that would smoke Civic SI's all day. I guess what im trying to say is this little car no matter how expensive is worth all the money to me.

It's not "how fast do you want to go" its more like "how fast do you want to spend?"

There's a lot more hidden costs than you imagine. Especially if you want to do it right the first time. The cost of the motor is just the start. Remember, you are only buying the motor. Things like the distributor, pump, sensors and belts are just hanging on because it is not cost effective for Japanese dismantlers to part them out. What I am saying is your mileage may vary, some or all the parts may have to be replaced. It's always a bit of a gamble picking up a used motor and you better be ready to pickup the "hidden" costs. Its an risk associated with the project.
If you are in a position to do this swap, you have to have the patience and the pocketbook to see it through. It also helps if your lucky and all the parts function the first time out. I originally thought it would take 1-2 months to do the swap it turned out to be almost 5 months.
All I am saying is hope for the best but plan for the worst.

In the end it was all worth it though!

The first gen lx i believe were SOHC in Canada and the GT model was the equivalent of the U.S. spec lx with the DOHC.

Correct. Only the GT in Canada got the DOHC. Our GT's though had more features than the US LX. The spoiler and the seats being the notable things.
