That is going to be close, that is a low offset wheel to get a drop with. I know 18's with 35's and +40 offset scrub at factory height. Good luck..

I am suprised you are not rubing already. Have you loaded your car up with people with your 17s on? Maybe find a wheel shop to shave the wheel a few millimeters if possible before you lower it

Dude, you guys are awesome. It's so cool that I don't really have to make sure I answer each of these cause you guys are. I am so glad to see that people see how sensitive our Protege5's are in the rear. It sucks. Wish mazda would give you front and backspacing meas. before purchasing the car. hehe.

Oh, what they said. BAsically I think you're not gonna be happenin' unless you run some good negative camber back there with 205/40's.

The basis of my recipe is to remain as close to factory tire diameter and acheive the most contact patch possible. As an added benefit, retain the same rotating mass as stock wheel and tire. i.e. Rota Subzeros and almost any 215/40/17. THe +40 goes below my reccommended +42 with the thinnest tire and shortest possible, 205/40.

Thanks guys, thats what I thought. I did have about 40 doz. beer and 4-24trays of pop in the car, thats a good bit of weight. I have to say though it was slammed and was worried. Rishie, I did check out the recipe, just didn't plan to lower.
