tire switch

Hi, i have a 2009 mazda3 grand touring it came with 205/50/r17 i was wondering if i could put 225/50/17 on the rim? Will that work?

I tend to use this link from the top of the page..It's pretty accutite I think.

It;s the Link up top of the page by The Tire Rack..they know what they are doing with tires and wheels.

you should probably run a tire size calculator to find the appropriate +1 size. If your new tires have a different diameter your speedo will be off by a certain amount. Usually you have to adjust the height ratio when you go up or down in width.

Here is a calculator to use http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html.

Next is to determine if it fits in your wheel well without rubbing. The mazdaspeed3 has 225 width tries and i believe they have the same size wheel well so you should be good, but don't quote me on that.

If your going to go with 225 width and 17 inch rim. You should probably use a 45 aspect ration as it has a pretty close revolutions per mile. 808 vs 804

my 2011 Mazda3 also came with 205/50/17 and I just upgraded my tires to 225/45/17 fits fine. btw the Michelins Pilot Sport AS3 are great tires for the Car!
