Replacement Tires for stock wheels

Hello

I am currently looking to replace my tires on my
98 Protege DX. The original tires were noisy when
I first drove off the lot...lol

I know after reading most of the posts here, that
most of them are looking at bigger rims.....

Are they any scrubbing problems putting on 185x70's
on the 13" rims? Also can anyone tell me which tires
have the least road noise???

I am also wondering about other 13" tire combinations
too....

THX

13" stock rims. I think they are 5" width according to FAQ.
They came stock on the car......

Stock size tires are 175x70X13..... would like to use 185x70x13

solely from an outside radius perspective a 185/65-13 tire would be a better match (not even sure if they make such a thing)...

you can play with sizes at:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

of course this only shows the size tire you need to maintain an accurate spedometer and similar outside radius as the stock tires... it does not say much for fitment.

wanna hear something shitty. I got 155/80 R13's on my 94 pro when i got it. Dealer replaced all tires the cheap way. instead of 175's he put cheap ol 155's. Great for burnouts and winter.

And switching from the 175's to 185's is fine, they wont rub...WHY not jus do it a little better and get 195's
They make a heallva lot better handling and better traction difference.

Yokohama Avid T4's 195/60/r14's what im running on 1990 LX Alloys. Awsome tires. Tirerack sells em for $48 a piece shipped i think.

195's, I been looking in the local ads
and seems that 195x70x13 are not very
popular.

The real solution is to try and find some
kind of mazda 14 rims somewhere, steel would
be ok......

Nobody knows of a quiet riding tire????

Just want to let anyone know reading this
thread, that you can put 185x70x13's on those
13" rims. No problems whatsoever.

Got a great deal on the tires and what a smooth ride
