need help about rims

ok i have a 2000 mazda protege and ive talked to this rim company and they told me i would be able to run a 17x7.5 +42mm offset bolt pattern 4x100 on 205/40/17 with no problems at all is this true it seems that the offset would be too low and another rims i was looking at he said that i would also be able to get a 17x7 +37mm offset 4x100 with 205/40/17 tires is either would true?

rishies fitment guide, which is the very top thread in this forum...and Rishie is our resident expert...he owns a shop and drives a protege....

on HIS recommendation...the SMALLEST offset you should run with that size rim and tire combo...is a +45mm offset....otherwise you run a real good chance it will rub.

the +37 will certainly not work.
