Help!!!!!!!
I have an MP3 which has a 5 bolt lug pattern. The rims that I want, (Tenzo Shu 4) ( 5 lug are available, but has more spokes, I dont like them) only come 4 lug pattern. Should I use a 5-4 lug adapter or put the 4 lug pattern like on the reglular protege's?

if you are dead set on these rims....you should have gotten a car with a 4 bolt pattern.....do NOT use adapters.....they are an accident waiting to happen. I wouldn't advise them to my enemies.
one option you do have.....is find a supplier that can get you the proper hubs/discs which are either blank...no studs or holes in them and take them to a machine shop and have the proper pattern put in them...or a supplier that can give you the discs you need already drilled and studded with the four bolt pattern.....
course you realize that the four bolt pattern is weaker than the five bolt.

You can get the 4 lug front hubs and rear rotors through Mazda Motorsport. The rear rotors aren't very expensive at ~$33ea, but the front hubs are ~$95ea. The rear hubs would have to come from a '99-'00 drum setup.
I'm converting my '00 ES to rear disc breaks, but I'm keeping the 4x100mm pattern because there are more wheels available with it. You must be dead set on these rims though, and you should be able to change the hubs and rotors yourself. If not, the cost of the parts AND labor just for these rims really doesn't make much sense. Are you absolutely sure about the fit otherwise? offset, etc.

Well.....the price for the new hubs isnt much as far as i'm concerned. Youre right, the 4 x 100 lug pattern offers more rims availability. As far as labor, I have a hookup, so thats no biggie. And yes I am truly dead set on these rim....unless of course something else comes out that i like better. I sound crazy huh?

they did have the shu4 available in the correct bolt pattern for the MP3, but I can't seem to find it now that tenzo released the shu10 (replacement for the shu4 supposedly) in a 5x114.3 bolt pattern. Not sure about the offsets and what you would need for that. I'm sure Rishie will be chimming in any second now with your answers. He is the wheel god around here......ARDPERFORMANCE.COM can get em for you and so can RISHIE probably. They probably don't have a good offset though for an 18".
