205/55/16 fitment?

I bought some Toyo Proxes4 in a 205/55/16 for my g/f's eclipse but never had them put on. now that we're getting rid of it and possibly getting the P5 i was wondering if they would fit on there. i did a search but i was getting mixed feelings on whether or not they fit and are worth it. some say they do some say they don't. from what i gathered it will decrease gas mileage, slow the acceleration, the speedo will be off, and worse handling because of the taller sidewall. is it worth it to put these on or should i just get rid of them and get a smaller tire.

They're probably too tall, but to be sure, go to the Tire Rack's site and look up the dimensions (including revolutions per mile) for the OE tire and then look at the specifications for the Toyos. Try to look at the specific Toyo you have vs. the OE Dunlops because there is considerable variation among different manufacturers; even with the tires that are nominally the same size. I believe that the conventional wisdom is that anything more than about a 3% variation, even if the tire fits in the wheel well, can be a problem with the ECU's ability to control things. Obviously, the sppedometer variation needs to also be considered.

jflo on the other board has 205/55-16's on stock p5 wheels on his msp with no problems. 1fastmp5 had them on his lowered p5 with no rubbing so you should be fine.
