Powdercoating Available

I just wanted to create this thread so everyone has a chance to see it. I'm going to start expanding my powdercoating work to the forum in hopes of creating enough business to allow me to do this full time. I'm in the process of having a new shop built behind my home but with the required permits and contractors it's still a few weeks away. I will come back and officially post when I'm open for orders. A full spectrum of colors is available and most any color can be had. I even have very special colors like sparkles and glow-in-the-dark. I have never used the g-i-t-d before so I will be doing to my car first to show everyone what it looks like. The glow-charge is said to last for 10 hours at night. Should be very nice for anyone attending night time events. Special requests are allowed, but will need to be discussed with me a head of time. Also, I can polish chrome and aluminum. I do not have the ability to chrome anything, but I can powdercoat a chrome finish to your aluminum. Prices are not available yet but a payment schedule is: 50% deposit is paid upfront when order is placed and details are finalized. This will allow me to order and stock your needed powder prior to you shipping your part out. This saves on the time you are without your piece. This also holds you place in line. The other 50% will be required after I'm finished and satisfied with the work. Also, I will at this time check the return shipping costs (shipped how you want it) and invoice you for the remainder. I believe this is pretty feasible for everyone and will help cut down on delays and errors.

Color charts are available but are NOT the extent of what I have and can get. I have many factory colors like "Mercedes Silver" and "Porsche Red" that are very nice. PM me for a current color list.

Shipping will always be only what it costs me to ship. There are no extra shipping charges or handling fee's. I don't believe in these.

Due to the size and amount of labor involved with powdercoating wheels please allow 3 weeks for a set of four. I do this in my spare time and I take my time to make sure everything is just right. Smaller pieces should not be a problem and most could be turned around within 2 days. I will give discounts for multiple pieces done at one time. Pricing will later reflect these discounts. Also, I can do special requests. Some people want two-tone valve covers or multi-colored pieces. this can be done for an extra fee since the process has to be done for each color/section. Also I can polish to an almost mirror finish aluminum. I can polish intakes and powdercoat them clear to make them easier to clean. PM or post with special request info.

bump, I know you guys are interested in adding a very classy touch (something missing from a lot of tuners today) to your rides. Just keep this in mind if you're looking to spice up your ride a little.

*edit* My website should be up and running within 4-5 days. I'll be sure to link them and possibly get an ad banner up.

Anarchistchiken April-6th-2004 05:27 PM

What's up rodddimus. I'll be coming to you to get some stuff done as soon as you get that building up. Later.

Roddimus Prime April-6th-2004 06:33 PM

sounds good...Anarchist has seen some of my stuff so he knows how good this stuff looks....I'm just itching to get my glow-in-the-dark powder in!!

Nothing looks as cool as glow-in-the-dark MP3 yellow brake calipers glowing out from behind a set of 17" MP3 wheels (chromed out) on a laser blue P5. Man oh man...I'm getting all emotional just thinking about it.

p.s. Miller, you working up that post count aren't ya?!?! Eevryone here has a pretty low count...we're not a real fast forum...although thats good because we don't have a lot of the trash other forums have.

steve_protege April-7th-2004 10:53 AM

Just to get an idea, you could get a nice green G-I-T-D for calipers and perhaps a red for misc. engine parts (i.e fuse box, valve cover, heat shield etc)?

Roddimus Prime April-7th-2004 11:03 AM

colors

Sure, what shade of green or red?? Glow in the dark works best on brighter colors...I think red would be as dark s I would go.

ok, I'm having trouble getting my color chart to show up. I'll have to post the actual colors tonight.

steve_protege April-7th-2004 11:11 AM

Well... I have an emerald green Pro. So at night, my car looks black. During the day (when its clean) its a nice metal flake green. The actual green the dealership says is Emerald Green Mica. So I figure if I want my calipers to stand out a bit, how bout a nice bright green? What shades of green do you have available? As far as the red, I suppose a cherry red would do. I don't need anything too too red because I want it to closely match any kind of hose kit I get and the red on my Injen CAI and filter.

Roddimus Prime April-7th-2004 11:14 AM

you have anemerald green car....you want bright green calipers and red accents under the hood??

can someone p-shop this for him!!

steve_protege April-7th-2004 11:18 AM

I know, I know! Sounds a lot like Christmas. I suppose Im getting into the holiday spirit REAL early!! I only ask for green calipers because I have a green LED undercar kit and then green interior neons. Obviously I would of got red, but its illegal in FL to have blue or red anywhere outside the vehicle. The red accents under the hood is to match the Injen intake and filter.

Roddimus Prime April-7th-2004 11:29 AM

I'm not one to judge....just want to make sure you know what you're asking for!

steve_protege April-7th-2004 11:38 AM

Sure do. I know it sounds a bit off the wall, but trying to get a nice continuous stream of light from everything outside. Then a change-up in color under the hood.

Roddimus Prime April-7th-2004 01:38 PM

sounds like thats what you'll have! I'll post the colors for you tonight....if the colors aren't exactly what you want let me know and I'll look for another shade.

steve_protege April-7th-2004 04:40 PM

Thanks again Matty! Im looking forward to see what colors you have available.

Roddimus Prime April-7th-2004 05:32 PM

This is by no means a complete list....just a good variety of colors I think look good on cars.

geez this would be easier with a way to manage files on the forum!!

steve_protege April-7th-2004 08:10 PM

I think for my valve cover, fuse box, heat shield ect. I might go with the saftey red. As for the green, whatever G-I-T-D shade would look best.

Roddimus Prime April-7th-2004 09:37 PM

can't powdercoat heat shield and fuse box cover....for one the fuse box cover is plastic. it would melt into nothingness. The Heatshield gets so hot that it would require special "burner" colors....the two large pictures listed above....hi-temp black and silver are both good colors and good for a 1000* and 1200* peak temps. These colors will fade some though as anything that gets that hot will.

To get a g-i-t-d green you'd want to pick a lighter shade of green, maybe a sharp (crayola) green or even a neon green to match your neon lights. The lighter the color the more it will glow.

steve_protege April-7th-2004 09:53 PM

Will the engine paint that G2 offers be able to withstand the high temps of the heat shield, valve cover, fuse box etc?

Roddimus Prime April-7th-2004 10:16 PM

The heat shield and manifold are the hottest parts of the vehicle and the only pieces that can't be covered by standard powdercoating.

Plastic can't be powdercoated...it only works on metal.

I do not know anything about G2 paint. I have never liked painted surfaces on a car. Powdercoating is just a much nicer finish that lasts longer and resists heat and corrosion.

Roddimus Prime April-20th-2004 09:40 AM

bumpity bump bump...next week starts construction...finally got all of my permits in and through the contractors waiting list.

zlicius April-21st-2004 04:23 PM

well you have like "stock" where you could send 1 out w/ a deposit and when you get a like piece refund the deposit...

valve cover...

Roddimus Prime April-21st-2004 04:26 PM

I will not have a stock on hand immediatly. I'm currently in negotiations with Protegegarage.com to exclusively coat for them and Ken is in the process of working out a "core charge" system. Feel free to visit his site and email him for further info.

He's the brains, I'm the muscle.

p.s. He's also on here as "Ken@protegegarage"

blueman3393 April-22nd-2004 02:01 AM

so you will be able to powdercoat the brake calipers, thats cool let me know what the prices are looking like when you get up and running and also have a pair of rims i would like done too

Roddimus Prime April-22nd-2004 08:15 AM

just a pair of rims? Only two? Yeah calipers can be done but will have to be completly disassembled prior to shipping to me....all rubber and plastic has to be removed. These pieces get "cured" at about 450* so it has to be clear of plastic and rubber first.

rktktpaul April-22nd-2004 10:46 AM

Ballpark $ for four calipers please :D

Roddimus Prime April-22nd-2004 10:47 AM

in a standard color (no texture/additives) I'm guessing about $100-125 for all four. I can do glow-in-the-dark for $100 extra.

TRBOMP5 April-22nd-2004 06:21 PM

sorry if this has already been answered, but how much for a 2.0l valve cover if i sand blast it first for you? Id like it in the safety red.

Roddimus Prime April-22nd-2004 07:14 PM

There's really no point in blasting it for me because there's more to prepping it than just that.

Right now I'm shooting for $200. Once I see how well my new curing equipment runs I may be able to go a little less, but exact pricing isn't set yet.

Roddimus Prime April-22nd-2004 08:13 PM

constructing actually starts this weekend. tomorrow I have to steak the property with the city inspector and sometime next week they'll start and finish. I'm hoping to get the electrical done the following weekend.

Were you just wanting your valve cover done? Just a glossy safety red? That will look good! I'm going to try to get a wrinkle red finish like the new MS-M cover.

Roddimus Prime April-22nd-2004 09:05 PM

I hear ya! I would have my new cams in right now but my wife broke her ankle and I had some heinous ER bills to pay first...it emptied me out....not to mention my airplane tickets to Wagners and what-not.....I'm hoping to sell some jobs so I can start making back some bill money!

Roddimus Prime April-22nd-2004 09:35 PM

I think you better run 2bar boost if you're going to have a 9" tall intercooler. Too much intercooler is counter-productive. Also, a splitter would be a no-no also as it is an obstruction that lower the efficeincy of your intercooler. If the obsturction too bad it could cause back-up in the turbo and create fin damage.

I would recommend your end caps be centered in the middle on both sides. This will allow the pressurized air to spread out and cool better before being re-compressed through the intake tubing.

Find out what volume of air you're going to be pumping through into the motor and then design the intercooler to work best for it.

If you need the calculation charts for intercooler effieceincy, let me know and I'll get it for you.

Roddimus Prime April-23rd-2004 06:08 PM

I have the scans for you.....where do you want them sent?

Roddimus Prime April-24th-2004 09:50 AM

email sent....56K=DIE!

*edit* e-mail rejected.

Roddimus Prime April-24th-2004 02:05 PM

it would be rejected because the files are rather large...wait...I'll create a new thread....post the pictures....you save them then I'll delete the thread.
Look for it in the OT section.....then come back and delete all of your posts from this thread that are not powdercoating-related.

pro5 May-3rd-2004 04:37 PM

Last post was about a week ago, Roddimus are you up and running yet? Need a cost ,if you have had time to figure out what it would be...new valve cover powdercoated yellow and possibily if you get cover or would you like it better if I got my own?
dav

Roddimus Prime May-3rd-2004 04:42 PM

The shop is built. Electrical is about half done. I just have to get power to my new breaker box and then I'll start setting everything up.

If I get the cover for you there would be a $125 core charge (what it costs me to buy a new cover) which would be returned to you once we swap up.

If you are just wanting the Valve cover done in a solid MP3 yellow I will do it for $125 (+core if needed). I've got the powder instock now so once my new UV Lamp shows up we'd be able to get started. I'll be out of town for a few days to attend Wagner's new shop opening so your best bet is to either catch me in email (perrymuk@bellsouth.net) or on the phone 621-4517 (after 5)

Roddimus Prime May-6th-2004 02:03 PM

Dave, per our conversation the other day i can do the cover in yellow and polish the raised lettering for the same price. It'll just take a little longer. Once it's compleltely cured and cooled off I'll have to strat polishing but it wont take more than few hours.

I'd like to give all of my local "crew" a better deal on pricing so I can get some pieces out to show off. I should be doing my caliper brackets now since my car is sitting up.....that would've been a good project!!

Roddimus Prime May-20th-2004 01:31 PM

bump www.mullisbrothersracing.com starting to get some more content up guys, thought you'd want to look it over and pick out your favorite colors.
