I'm not actually in the Grand Rapids area but i'm a bit north. I am currently living in Baldwin which is about an hour and a half north of you. The only other MI pro owner I've found is in the detroit area. I've been looking for some others to meet sometime.

Yeah I think you and I are the only 2 people on here in MI. But hey, if you're ever in the Detroit area come on by, grab a beer, and we can compare our rides. :)

Protegeboy, I do live pretty close to warren. Unfortunately I'll be in Mt. Plesant this weekend for my gf's sister's wedding.

i am closer to mt pleasant than warren right now. oh and its next weekend i'll be in warren, got my weekends all messed up.

Cool cool. Well, if ya feel the urge to hit some bars in the area next weekend, look me up! I'll probably be workin on my car that weekend too. I wanna paint my valve cover, find some clear bumper lights, and get my amp and subs put in. Obviously none of that is gettin done this weekend, so i'll be itching to work on my car that weekend.

Hold on guys, here's another Michigander. I live in Troy about 15 miles due north of central Detroit. It's kinda cool having a P5 in this area because there don't seem to be too many around. When I got mine in July of 2001 it was at least 6 months before I saw another one on the road! BTW, I may be selling my Mazdaspeed Sport exhaust. It's a great unit that's only been on the car a few weeks. We've been taking a lot of family trips and on the freeway it's a little loud inside the car. I'm kinda bummed because I like the way it sounds. Gotta think of family unity however.

Hey silver, you're not too far from me at all. I live in Oak Park near 9 and Coolidge. I think you're the first ever person I've seen here that's near me. Secondly, you're right. There are very few P5's in our area, although I have been noticing more in the past 2 months. Finally, how much are you asking for your exhaust? I may be interested.

That's cool. Before we moved to Troy we had a little house in Pleasant Ridge on Woodward Heights! Nice to know someone nearby. About the exhaust, I paid $205.00 for the part and shipping from Mazdastuff in Texas and hoping to not take more than about a $25.00 hit for my "experiment", so I'm thinking around $180.00. Let me know what you think. If you'd like to try it out maybe we could meet and you could give it a listen. It really does look and sound great and it stays centered in the rear cutout. I noticed you have the B&M shifter. I've been wanting to see how that feels, perhaps we could meet sometime?

Yeah I would be very interested in meeting and checking out eachothers cars. I just put my B&M in this past weekend and I love it. Shifts feel very tight and solid now. As for the exhaust, yours is just axle back, not cat-back, correct? And on a side note, that's funny you used to live in PR. I grew up in Troy near Adams and Square Lake. We switched directions, lol. Yeah, I'm definately interested in getting a little meeting together. I just met Jeff (silver_p5_owner) last night and he's a pretty cool guy.

Yeah, it was nice hooking up with kakarot and his friends last night. Good guys. Liked the feel of the B&M shifter he installed. It would be cool to have a get together somewhere. BTW, kakarot, since I've only heard my exhaust from outside of the car a couple times I wondered what your opinion is as to how it sounds. Thanks.

I thought it sounded really good. Nice deep, throaty sound but not obnoxious like the usual ricer coffee can exhausts you see around. My friend Paul (the guy with the WRX) thought the same thing too.

So far it looks like we have 5 people at least interested in getting together somewhere between Holland and detroit area not a bad spread. So are we all interested in having somekind of meet or get together sometime? And if so any ideas of a a place?

It's a lil late now, but i was in Michigan last weekend at the Warren Dunes, i should let yall know and we could have gotten together or what not, but i was dumb and didn't tell ne1..... LoL
it was a 3.5 hour ride there cause of traffic, and a 1.5 hour ride home.....

dude i was down there last weekend also, too bad i didn't know.

oh well.. The only other protege I saw was a '98 which was identical to mine and parked 2 cars from me, i kept thinking it was mine. LoL

I just picked up my new P5 just over a week ago, I'm located in East Lansing, MI (doing the college thing)....

i'll be in warren this weekend so if anyone in that area cares to get together let me know

Mazda is going to have a booth set up down there somewhere with a MS Protege and also a new Mazda6. If you guys get down there try taking some pics!!

My Mazda sale rep was in uesterday and I spoke with him. Today he is testdriving the MS Pro in Detroit. I'm still might make the trip on the 17th for myself, I don't know yet. Give me some feedback.

i'm headin down to warren (detroit area) in about an hour. i'll be around till sunday any idea where abouts that booth will be? i really want to check out that ms pro.

Well, the dealership where I got my car is at 8-mile and Woodward, right where the cruise starts. That would be my best guess as to where the Mazda booth will be.

The MS Pro and Mazda6 are going to be located on Woodward just south of 15 mile rd (Maple Ave) on the East side of the road. They are going to be driving them on the strip that day and night so keep your eye out for them if there not at the booth. What time does this thing start. I'm thinking of coming down and I've never been to this event before? Give me some more info please.

There really isn't any official start time. It's pretty much just show up whenever you feel like it. Woodward will be closed off by the cops at 9pm tonight and 9pm tommorrow. But if you head out to woodward north of 15-mile around midnight, that where all the real action will be. ;)

For got to add this too, Woodward starts to get really bumpin at about 10am, but if you want a good spot to chill out and park, you'd better get there at like 7am!

One more note, I live very close to Woodward and have access to parking, at my girlfriend's work, near woodward. If anyone wants to meet up or get a little protege get-together going, my cell phone number is 248-703-5099.
