Illinios Meet #3?

OK, I figured I'd start this new one off. There seemed to be interest in another meet some time this summer, so how about some suggestions?

ILMP5 June-11th-2002 10:08 AM

how about sometime July? August is bad time for me.

speedypt June-11th-2002 10:14 AM

I agree with ILMP5

August is when my wife is due. Eric....you taking charge of planning this one?

I don't mind driving up to the north shore either.

Let us know Eric!!!

Regards,

Pete

Eric F June-11th-2002 12:16 PM

Pete, I don't think I could do the job as well as you did. ;) If an installation/tuning meet turns out to be a popular idea, I'd give it a shot though.

Green Skanka June-11th-2002 02:02 PM

If you're gonna have it in july, the only day i know of that i won't be able to make it is the 27th....

chitownmp3 June-11th-2002 10:45 PM

Eric, I,m in whenever. I enjoyed the last meet!
Hey , don't forget your free investment advice retorts,I'll be looking for them.:D

Brandon June-12th-2002 10:00 PM

Hey you think you guys could have it in Chi town this time?

Eric F June-13th-2002 08:57 AM

We need to hear from everyone about what activities they're interested in this time, so we know what facilities we need. It would be nice to try and keep the location fairly central, so no one has to drive to far. What sounds good to everyone?

speedypt June-14th-2002 01:17 AM

Activities

I'd like to do a little bit of Auto-X if at all possible. Even if it is in a small lot. Some modification work would be fun too. Kory....can you help with this???

Location is not important to me this time. I am willing to do the driving further to accomodate another location. So that piece is open for me.

Someone pick a date and location. I'll do my darndest to be there.

Pete

Eric F June-14th-2002 08:49 AM

It looks like we may have some interest from a few Indiana Protege owners as well, if the meet is in Chicago or nearby. I know there are a few good places in the near North suburbs with forest preserves, parking, etc. which also aren't far from my garage if we need serious tools. Kory, what about the city?

Green Skanka June-14th-2002 02:42 PM

I don't mind a little drive, so wherever is fine with me....

Off Topic:
I hope you guys didn't have you cars out, like i did, when we got some hail today. It was small so hopefully it didn't chip the paint or anything, but i'll have to wat for the sun to come out and dry off my car so i can get a good look...

ILMP5 June-14th-2002 02:59 PM

a suggestion: track day anybody?

Brandon June-15th-2002 12:38 AM

Yeah that would be cool if it was closer to Chi town. It would only make it like a 2 and 1/2 hour drive.

jaisai01 June-15th-2002 01:40 AM

i would be interested if it was in Chicago. That would make it only a 3- 3.5 hrs drive for me. keep me posted. thanks.
arul

protegeboy78 June-15th-2002 10:47 AM

northern MI

I'm definantly interested as well. I finally got my car back out of the shop so if all goes well I'll be able to come down sometime in July, only day that won't work for me is july 4th weekend, one of my friends is geting married. And the idea of working on the cars is cool too.

Green Skanka June-16th-2002 01:12 AM

I agree with conrad, sometime we gotta do a track day, and all race against each other, it'd be fun...

5SpeedP5 June-16th-2002 01:36 AM

id love to join in on a illinois meet, though i live in nebraska... i have an older brother in shamburg (chicago burb).... so id be a good chance to see him and meet up with all you guys.

if possible mid to late july would be best for me....

activity wise, working on the cars would be very cool, track day would be very fun id say, or even autoX.....

cant wait!

protegeboy78 June-16th-2002 09:29 PM

well the racing sounds cool but my 1.5L won't hold up to anyone right now, I'd love to watch some of the others race. Hopefully by late july i'll have some of my mods i'm hoping to do soon done. Especially my cold air intake and maybe my tachometer.

5SpeedP5 June-16th-2002 11:33 PM

oh come on dude, youd still have fun...

Green Skanka June-17th-2002 02:30 AM

Hey protegeboy, mine's only a 1.5, but i still wanna see what it could do.......

protegeboy78 June-17th-2002 06:53 AM

ah hell why not, i guess i'll race. I know it will end up bein fun.

Eric F June-17th-2002 10:49 AM

So far we're looking at a mid to late July time frame, and a location close to, or in the city to accommodate everyone. To start narrowing things down, does anyone have a preference on July 14th, 21st, or 28th? Kory, do you have any suggestions on a place to meet in the city, or should I come up with something in the near North 'burbs? The track day sounds like a lot of fun, but I don't think there's going to be anyplace available for us to have our own autocross course set up. If everyone is really interested, we could look into a NASA or SCCA sponsored event on one of those weekends and see if there's enough room left for all of us to register.

5SpeedP5 June-17th-2002 12:28 PM

im gonna have to say i have a preference.... july 28th....

the other dates im gonna be in germany drinking! :D :D

Eric F June-17th-2002 02:08 PM

Alright, one vote for the 28th. Any others?

protegeboy78 June-17th-2002 06:57 PM

Do saturedays just not work for any of you? the 20th and 27th would be the best for me so that I don't have to leave really early just to make it back to northern MI for work. I will come the 21st and 28th if you have it one of those days just won't be able to stay long.

Green Skanka June-17th-2002 07:42 PM

yeah saturdays would be better, but i'm gonna be outta town the 26-28th.........

protegeboy78 June-17th-2002 08:16 PM

what about the 21st?

speedypt June-18th-2002 08:57 AM

I vote for the 21st....

....but as usual...I can't be there until 2-3pm.

But I WILL be there.

Pete

protegeboy78 June-18th-2002 03:19 PM

Well i checked my schedual and the best days would be 20th or 21st, if its th 21st I can only stay till about 3

chiproes June-18th-2002 10:20 PM

So far, July 21st looks fine to me.

Eric F June-19th-2002 09:00 AM

The 21st is fine with me. If we're going to stick with a Sunday, how about starting a bit earlier for the out of state folks? What does everyone think about 11 or 12?

speedypt June-19th-2002 10:16 AM

Actually...

I can make any time on the 21st. It turns out that I don't have to work that day and can be there any time. 11am is fine for me.

Pete

protegeboy78 June-19th-2002 12:29 PM

Yeah at least 11 would be good.

chiproes June-19th-2002 03:04 PM

11:00 a.m. on the 21st if fine with me.

But Eric, that means no taking your car apart in the morning...

:D :D :D

fencepost June-19th-2002 03:33 PM

For the 21st earlier is better for me as well - I'm road-tripping to Ohio that afternoon, so an afternoon meet wouldn't be a good thing.

kad June-20th-2002 01:00 AM

hehehe

so is a 16 year old with a stock Pro5 allowed in your meet?
hehehe
or are you all oldies with really fast modified cars
;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Green Skanka June-20th-2002 04:29 AM

Kad, everybody is welcome to come, and if ya do i wont be the youngest 1 there, Ya..

11 is fine with me, although the chances of me being up that early aren't good LoL, but i'll try, if not i'll still be there later

Off Topic: Don't ship UPS the Last week of July!!!!!!!!!

I work at UPS, and there is a threat of strike July 31, if the union contract negotiations aren't finished. we will be on strike Aug. 1st... I'll keep yall informed though if the negotiations are met b4 then, and when they are done i get a raise, hoo rah.....

Eric F June-21st-2002 09:34 AM

I won't, I swear. I actually have the interior all back together now. Besides, if we're going to do some wrenching during the meet, I can get my fix then.
