1st NIPRO (Northern Illinois Protegeclub) Meet

Hey everyone. I hope everyone enjoyed that lovely winter we had here in Northern Illinois. It is getting that time of year. The steelies are being stored back in the garages, the temperature switches are being moved from hot to cold, and those of us that have moonroofs; are opening them for the first time this year. Yep we are do for another meet. We had talked about this last year, calling ourselves NIPRO Club (Northern Illinois Protege Club). I am thinking that it is time to start up another thread about an upcoming meet. Who is all in, where would we like to call the meeting spot, and when should we have it? There you have it, the new one begins. ;)

chitownmp3 April-2nd-2003 07:27 PM

I'm ready for a meet !
I have cabin fever so bad it hurts!!!!!!
:D

Identity_X April-2nd-2003 07:46 PM

Pat, I'll do everything I can so you are not the only 1st gen Pro out there:D

When do you guys want to do it? For me, I got finals beginning to to mid May and I will be out of the state (and coutry:) ) from June 2nd. Anywhere in between is fine.

We are shooting for a weekend right ?

chiproes April-2nd-2003 09:29 PM

Hey, Patrick, thanks for getting the ball rolling.

I'll be out of town the first weekend in May and the first weekend in June, but other than that, I should be fine. Oh, also possibly over Memorial Day weekend.

Anyways, it would be nice to meet up with everyone again soon, I agree.

speedypt April-2nd-2003 11:32 PM

MEET! MEET! MEET!

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO ready for a meet!

I put the S-03's back on and I'm ready to roll. 2nd to last weekend in May should work for me. I don't mind organizing, but we HAVE TO FIND A PLACE that wants us to be there this time.

I don't want to deal with the Tree Police again. (Still haven't put my front plate back on...hee hee!)

I will be out of town for the first 12 days in May. So I can't attend until after that. The weather is too unpredictable before that in my opinion.

So....Dale....can you take the lead and organize this one, perhaps in conjunction with Pat or ????

Regards and anxious to meet,

Pete

i don't have a pro anymore .. but can i still come? :D

chiproes April-3rd-2003 06:54 AM

Acutally, the weekend of May 24th probably won't work for me either (although I MIGHT be able to make it on Sunday the 25th), but if it works for everyone else, you should go ahead and do it.

If memory serves me correctly, we ran into this same problem last year, and then Mr. X had to leave town without ever meeting up with us. It would be nice if we could avoid that this year.

What do you think, Patrick?

And of course, Webmaster, you should be there, too.

Identity_X April-3rd-2003 12:09 PM

How about the weekend of Saturday May 17 ?

And Webmaster.......you can come but only if you bring the Subaru;)

chiproes April-3rd-2003 12:47 PM

May 17th works for me.

How 'bout it, guys?

Green Skanka April-6th-2003 04:26 AM

you guys ready for the snow sunday night?????

I'm gonna be spending all day sunday doing a half-shaft replacement with my buddy on his '00 Si. We spen 3 hours today gettin all the "shit" out of the way so we can pull the damn thing out, and the P.O.S. won't come out. And to replace his wheel bearing, we gotta take the "arm" in to a shop so they can pull the old one out and press in the new one. I hope our Pro's aren't that difficult...

chiproes April-6th-2003 10:04 AM

D'oh!

Thanks for reminding me, guys...I've got 8 hours of traffic school myself that I need to take care of.

Hmmm...well, if the 17th won't work, what about Sunday the 18th? Or will you still be celebrating your anniversary, Kory?

Dress warm, Pat...it's cold out there today!

chitownmp3 April-6th-2003 12:12 PM

18th is good for me!
Traffic school is far from what I want to do but........ thats what I get for hitting a corolla!:p

jaisai01 April-6th-2003 01:46 PM

i am up for driving again. I will be spending the summer in West Lafayette. SO it will only be a lil drive up on 65 to come up to chicago. lemme know the dates.
thanks
arul

protegeboy78 April-6th-2003 10:30 PM

I am no longer tied down so i will be up for a meet sometime, as far as i know i have all weekends open if i have enough time in advance to prepare, also not sure where i'll be living by then, maybe a lot closer than i am now but i will try to come no matter where i live, maybe i'll have my jspec bumper by then

SLPRprotege April-7th-2003 07:28 AM

So far everyone is good for Sunday May 18th? Speak up if not. Also anyone thought about a meeting place? Maybe if I can get ahold of Conrad, shoot for some place in Naperville/Aurora area? I think we want to stand clear of the tree police at Busse again. Anyone have any ideas of an official NIPRO meeting spot?

ILMP5 April-7th-2003 10:35 PM

sent you a PM we'll set it up. no problem at my end.

speedypt April-8th-2003 12:03 AM

SHI#!

I can't meet on the 18th. Wife works all day long. Depending on how the kids are, I could stop by with them for about an hour. Since I am the only one who can't meet, DON'T change dates on my account.

Just promise me the next one is on a Saturday! I will still try to stop by for this one, but I can't make any guarantees.

Plus, Conrad has my new horn just waiting for me to pay him!!!

Regards,

Pete

chiproes April-8th-2003 07:09 AM

Pete,

Bring the kids...I can help you take care of them.

my black mp5 April-8th-2003 07:14 PM

may 17th is my son birthday, and may 18th is my wife birthday. it will be really hard to make the meet. i want to meet everybody on the board and check out some cars . let me know whats going on and i will try something. wilson

Identity_X April-9th-2003 11:37 AM

Let's first try to set a date that works for EVERYBODY. How about the weekend of May 10th and May 11th ???

SLPRprotege April-9th-2003 06:42 PM

I graduate with my masters on the 10th. Yeah. That would not be good. We had already said that the first two weekends in May where bad. Now the third one is. What about the last one in may? Anyone have a problem with that?

chitownmp3 April-9th-2003 07:23 PM

18th is good or the end of may is cool.
Hey , Pat congrats on the masters!!!!!

chiproes April-9th-2003 08:01 PM

I MIGHT be able to do Sunday the 25th, although that might not be good for Pete, depending on his wife's work schedule.

But keep in mind that that is Memorial day weekend, and park space will be hard to find.

I can NOT do May 31/June 1....but if the rest of you can, go ahead.

This is a big group of people, and one date that works for absolutely everybody will be almost impossible. I think we should find one date and stick with it.

If Sunday, May 18th works for most, then that might be our best shot. We can always have more meets. :)

ILMP5 April-9th-2003 08:45 PM

Damn...I found out today, I will be out of the country on May 16- June 1st. I'm sure there will be more meets.

Pat I will get with you on another meet when I get back.

Got my 323F (euro p5) back from our bodyshop. schweet! Driving it again. lol :D

SLPRprotege April-11th-2003 07:18 AM

So Sunday May 18th. That is a go for most? Doing roll call here. Who is all in and where would you like to meet?

I am in for 1:00 on Sunday May 18th and I don't really have any good ideas about where to.

Newbies: Give me ideas folks of places we can meet.

protegeboy78 April-11th-2003 08:14 AM

saturedays will always work better for me but whatever day you make it there is a pretty good chance i can stop in for a short period of time

Identity_X April-11th-2003 08:15 AM

May 18th sounds good to me.:)

jaisai01 April-11th-2003 10:45 AM

18th is a go for me. thanks
arul

chitownmp3 April-11th-2003 07:06 PM

I'm in, but where? Busse is getting old. Its fun but ,the tree cops and the license plate thing scard me....lol
Dale or Pete, as the members with the longest standing in the club ,you guys have seen more meets . were there any that really stood out? To get some ideas from.......sorry I'm rambling again.danm paint fumes are getting me!

Heh...well, let's take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?

Meet #1 (Busse Woods): The Great Confusing Rain-Out. Me, Pete, and Pat on one side of the woods; Kory, Conrad and a couple of other folks on the other side. Kory and Conrad get hassled by tree police. Me, Pete, and Pat end up at Denny's.

Meet #2 (Busse Woods): For real, this time...we all meet and have a good time.

Meet #3 (Busse Woods): We all meet, have a good time, and get hassled by tree police in 90-jillion degree weather.

Meet #4 (Indiana Dunes): Me, Tim (protegeboy78) and his girlfriend meet up and go to Wendy's. One other dude shows up but can't find us.

Meet #5 (DeKalb): We start out at a perfectly nice city park, but get rained out and go back to Patrick's place.

I'm leaving out a smaller Chinatown meet that a few of you had...I believe Conrad was there.

Busse Woods is where we've been the most, but I can understand why folks are getting tired of it. Let's keep thinking.

protegeboy78 April-12th-2003 12:32 AM

one of the many parks along the lakeshore near the dunes could be cool and if done in the federal part would be free instead of the fee to get into the dunes park like last time

SLPRprotege April-22nd-2003 09:10 AM

We were getting low on the upper midwest page so I need to get the thread back on top. Do we know yet where we want to meet? How far would the dunes be for those out here in north central illinois?

ILMP5 April-24th-2003 08:40 PM

let me ask my boss if we can you the dealership for the meet. the only thing is that its all the way in Lake Bluff.

chiproes April-24th-2003 10:21 PM

Conrad...

Well, according to mapquest, Lake Bluff is about 45 minutes away from me in the city...really no different than going to Busse Woods or anything.

I guess it just depends on how the Western folk feel about it, since it's pretty far east.

What do you think, guys?

I just checked and Lake Bluff is about 40-45 minutes away from me as well. I am perfectly fine with this.

SLPRprotege April-25th-2003 07:06 AM

That would be 1 1/2 hours for me in at 83 miles. But I guess that if we didn't have anywhere else, that would be fine. I will just have to leave like a day earlier.
