I gave a try to Redline FI cleaner. I am not sure to what extent I am under placebo effect, but car seemes to run a LOT smoother(reduced muffler noise is a sure indicator of engine being under less stress) Even water temp indicator seems to be lower?
Yesterday i changed tranny fluid to Redline MTL.
Hmmm, I wouldn't say that result is that dramatic, but shifting seems to be bit easier, especially downshifts.
All procedure takes 10-15 minutes, longest part is to wait while dense Redline MTL seeps into hole on transmission. I'd say it's easier than oil change.

I ran Redline MTL in an RX-7 I autocrossed for a number of years. You will probably really notice a difference in cold weather, when you won't have to wait for the tranny to warm up for smooth shifts.

When I get a chance, I hope to put MTL in my P5.

 

FWIW Redline MTL is not the correct tranny oil for a Protege. MTL has a rated viscosity of 75W80; your tranny is supposed to take 75W90. Redline makes a product called MT90 that is equivalent to MTL but has the correct 75W90 viscocity.

It's hard to say if MTL will damage the tranny though. MTL is GREAT stuff, and some good shops will confess to putting MTL in everything regardless of the factory viscosity requirement. However, if you're doing a new tranny oil change (or you have MTL now and you're paranoid) you should probably use MT90.
