Looking for a little advice on putting a NOS kit on my 01 mp3. Pros and Cons and what size shot?

 

spray a 50 to begin with, Id suggest getting a aftermarket clutch if you wanna go bigger, i know im going to need one shortly.


Id suggest getting a NX Gen X2 Kit or something similar, i dunno about NOS or other companies, but i do suggest getting a Nitrous Gauge and a Bottle Warmer, Purge Kit also.

Rules:

never spray below 3K RPM's

DONT DONT DONT Speed Shift, espcially with this tranny

dont spray too much in 4th gear, never spray in 5th

DONT try to top out your car with the nitrous on, you WILL break something



Pros: look in Racing Stories for my topics, hehehehe

Cons: the only cons i have so far is trying to mount the friggin Micro Switch (throttle mounted) and filling the bottle every once in a while


I cant really give too much advice of actually putting it on, just make sure you dont pinch or bend the nitrous line.

 

Personally I woudl suggest a wet kit and to stay around 50-60 HP. Our fuel system is not designed to support much over that. Plus i have seen 3 proteges "pop" from spraying a 75 shot and they only sprayed 2 bottles through the car over a period of 2 months so I don't really suggest a 75 unless you do a direct port fogger system like i'm going to do. I can't remember what my sig says i was spraying but if it say 70 i sprayed that once and then bumped it back down to a 50 and even so i sold my N2O kit about 2 weeks ago.

What is the difference in a "Wet Shot" and a "Dry Shot"

Does wet spray into the engine and a dry spray into the intake or what?

How much nitrous has nothing to do with that "popping" sound you get. I know why and it's been documented. Your using a standard NOS fogger nozzle aren't you? They cause fuel puddling. You know why? They don't atomize like they should. Their best nozzle for single nozzle applications is the 90 degree "Soft Plume" nozzle. Or you can just get a NX Vortech or Shark nozzle and all your puddling problems will be solved.

We just had a guy on the Neon boards that was using a NOS based single nozzle kit and was getting fuel puddling after using his 75hp jets. It's a common problem that NOS countered with it's now famous or should I say imfamous dry nitrous technology.

You jumped ship way too soon.... Anyway, have fun in the 16 second zone...

Wet Shot = n2o + fuel (you splice the fuel line on the install)

Dry Shot = just n2o alone

they can both go in through the Intake

 

FYI, Ive been spraying since 3 days before i joined this forum, only suggestion o have is being gentle with the shifting and make sure its a WET SHOT

Hey Patio, can you drop your exhaust at Houston Raceway Park? If you can, I bet your times would drop a little more if you go rid of the stock exhaust. Even dropping the muffler would be an improvement. Your stock exhaust should allow enough flow for a 20% increase, well your about 20% over 20% of an increase so your stock exhaust is causing alot of backpressure now.

Also, what are your 60ft times with your P5?

on a 50 shot, stock everything else buck-o, hehehe, I've gotten alot better at driving @ the track and driving with the n2o. well at least i hope so :/

.4 is a big difference in a drag race, as long as i beat the guy in the next lane thats all that matters to me

I'm thinking about running open Cat but i dunno, just sounds a bit too ghetto

 

You should invest in some drag radails, that would really help out the cause. By your trap speed you should be running low 15's to high 14's. Should be mid 14's on a 75hp shot.

 

I don't mean "pop" as in detonation or backfire or fuel puddling I mean "pop" as in blow up the engine.
