Finally took the plunge...

And am I glad I did. Just purchased a Brand new 2002.5 Protege 5, Sunlight Silver. Was going to get Pure White, but wife made that decision. The X-plan pricing (from another forum) came in real handy. they didn't even ask for a PIN and gave me the car at just under invoice plus gave me the $750 rebate. Not a bad deal. The car is a 5spd, options are moonroof, ABS/side air bags. Can't wait to get started on the mods. Step 1. Window tinting.

Hopefully I will be able contribute a little more to the forum, now that I am a member of the brotherhood.

i eman think of it... ther aernt many other economy cars that have entire forums devoted to them

and not many protege owners care enough to join a forum.
hehe so true. Of all the cars I have considered, I can still see myself in a MS Protege, or MP3

Very true....in fact....I think you will find that not many car owners of ANY kind think enough of their cars to join forums or clubs of any kind.....

Just us hard core gearheads... :{D we are such a good lot too....as I have found with ANY group that I have joined.

Re: X-Plan Pricing???

Dude, I am trying to find out where I saw the post with the information. If I find it I will let you know. Also, many companies and institutions are eligible for this plan, check with your employer or school.

Basically the s-plan pricing is a little less than invoice. When I went in, I told them that I had just applied (faxed the paperwork Wed, received email today with PIN) for the friends and neighbors part of the X-plan (S-plan for Mazda). They had no problem showing the paperwork that showed the Invoice and the S-plan. On the car I wanted the s-plan was only $3, less than invoice. But, using the S-plan, you can still use the rebate of $750. So basically, I got it for $750 under invoice. When I was dealing I was working a deal on a White one and then switched to Silver. Silver and Yellow are the 2 highest sellers and they usually don't S-plan those. But he gave it to me cause we already had a deal worked out. So, in the end I paid ~16K for my Silver P5 with Sunroof and ABS/Side air bags. Not too bad, at least I think.
