Rear end knocking

Hey guys. I’m new here.

i just bought a 2010 Mazda 3 GT with 170,000km

when I go over any bumps, I notice a knocking noise in the rear. Sounds like a classic sway bar link.

I jacked the car up and pried in every piece of suspension under there, no play. I also checked other areas under the car.

I was told that it may be the brakes. Since it only did it after the dealership changed the brakes after I signed the deal to buy the car. It didn’t do it when I test drove it prior to the brake job.

i took the brakes apart but I didn’t notice anything different. Could the pass possibly be switched around? Like the back pad on the front and the front on the back(of the rotor)

Ive never heard of that but that’s what people say online.

thanks everyone

Two things to check.. 1. check that the spare doughnut and other tire changing equipment is secure. 2. Look at the shock and suspension bushings. I have the same sound but haven't located the problem yet. It normally happens on bumpy city roads.

I’m sure it’s the pads. When I pull up the e brake, it goes away. Same if I press on the brakes. And it comes right back when I let off the e brake or the brakes

so I’m guessing the pads were installed improperly since one pad has a clip that clips onto the piston of the caliper.

For me it was my shocks. Changed them out and the knocking was gone.
