I have a '98 Protege (automatic, 1.5L) which has been an okay car all around.

My problem is the transmission BANGS the shift from first to second. When I replace the fluid, it seems to shift normally for 1000k or so, then starts again after that.

It's never bothered me before because I was ready to let the car go at the drop of a hat, but times are a little tougher now and this car has to stay with me a while.

I tried searching this forum, but I haven't found anything like this.
