I want my baby back!

My car was stolen in Towson, MD today... I dropped it off for an oil change and never got it back. Upon pickup, both the keys and the car were missing from the shop. Either a technician at the shop had a part in the theft, or they carlessly left the keys it in when they were finished and someone else took it.

I feel so incredibly _______ right now.... I don't even have the words to describe it. I so hope its recovered...

Holy crap, that sucks.
I don't know the legalities but if the shop put it outside with keys
in it, they have to share in some responsibility, right?

Yes, they are fully responsible since the car was in their care at the time.

sorry to hear but in many cases the shops are not responsible for automobiles or personal belongings left on the premises

Yeah, they admitted total responsibility. It's been about 20 days since it was stolen and it hasn't been recovered. After 5 more days I have to return my rental car and insurance will contact me about reimbursement. Hopefully that all goes smoothly.

Thanks for all your well-wishes!

The 5 more days I had to wait came and went with no word about the car. Still no word to this day. Oh, the possibilities: stripped? shipped out of the country?

I was happy with the reimbursement value from their insurance co. I'm not upside-down on my loan. Don't really know what else to say...A terrible event, but life goes on.
