I went to the dealer to buy a new filter but he said there isn't one on my 2000 Protege. Could that be? I'm at 97K and i'd like to change it.

 

In the gen 3 proteges, the fuel filter is the screen around the exterior of the fuel pump which is located in the gas tank. The filter is to last the life of the fuel pump, so there is no need to replace the filter without the pump.
