I have a 2007 M3 2.0, and today when I had my oil changed they told me that there was fuel getting into my oil, and that it was thinning my oild out and I needed to get it looked at soon. Has anyone else had this problem if so what was the problem?

Sounds like piston rings maybe? I haven't had that problem with my MS3 but I have seen it in american V6's and V8's

Who changed the oil?

Did they do a used oil analysis to confirm this?

What evidence did they have?

How many miles since your last oil change?

How have you been driving the car? I suppose if you beat on it hard enough, you could cause enough premature wear on the rings to cause excessive blow by.

It's normal for minute amounts of raw fuel to get into the oil. All engines do it. This is one reason we change oil regularly.

wow, i haven't heard of this problem yet.
we could use sopme more info like milage since last oil change, how hard you drive etc.

if it is something that isn't your falut and the engine has a proble, then get them to fix it or get you a new engine. mazda only REQUIERS and oil change every 6k miles for them to keep the warranty. all you have to do is provide proof of iol changes

I'm with Maximus, what evidence or test confirm this and who told you? Unless you had a lot of fuel in the oil you couldn't just simply look at it and tell.

They used theb smell test ,the oil smelled of gas so there must be gas in the oil .

I guess you could have a leaking injector or some other reason the engine would be running rich.
I would get it to the dealer for a look.

If you're really worried about, save a sample of the old oil next time you change it and send it in for analysis. Check out http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php.

I don't think taking it to the dealer would do any good. Dealerships are usually pretty incompetent when it comes to diagnosing anything unless it's something obvious.
