It's not mine but someone on 247. I have the SU one and it is solid metal, not two pieces welded together. Did they honestly think that weld would hold with all the stress it's under?

Are you an engineer? Do you know what kind of forces are imparted on the mount and what is required to sustain them? Crappy welds happen, and one defect does not mean all the mounts are crap. Given the rave reviews of the performance of these SLS mounts, tons of them were sold, and this is the only problem reported regarding the front mount. That does not necessarily mean the design is flawed.

In their defense, SLS is making good on their failed mounts. They are supporting their customers and honoring their warranty. On the other hand, SU's mounts do look nice--I'll probably get their rear mount.

Yeah, I saw that too. At this point no one knows what the cause really is or if it's something SLS mount owners need to be concerned about. There are always defects in new products. SLS, like many other aftermarket vendors, simply doesn't have the resources to measure all the loads and do finite element analyses like huge car companies do, and people should understand that the products are therefore more susceptible to failing. Certainly this kind of inflammatory comment

doesn't help anyone. Every new product goes through an evolution and it's important to let it happen provided the vendor is supportive, which is indeed the case here. No reason to stir up emotions, this situation is already hot enough.
