hmmm...

unwinding after work or in general: some melodic trance to just help me space out. the drive on the freeway home is generally a nice one...and smooth unlike other freeways in socal. i need to get some new trance though, haven't got any in a while.

energy boost: lots of stuff. generally hip-hop/rap, good rock, some hard core stuff, but usually something with a melody.

calm down/use energy when i have no time to run it off music: hard core. if you've ever heard of the band Demon Hunter, they'll blow up your stereo, but they're melodic at the same time. ah, good stuff.

chilling: almost anything from stained, dmx, eminem, most rap i can calm and chill to i just like a good beat thas not to fast or hard and i can chill

no I'm not one of those smelly indie kids.

It's usually Modest Mouse, Taking Back Sunday, or somethin else kinda energetic in the car.

When I need to unwind, it's The Postal Service, Bright Eyes, Dave Matthews Band, etc.

to start off my day I drive in to work listening to Michael Buble "Feeling Good".

I usually spend the majority of my day in the audi listening to talk radio and then on the drive home when I'm pumped up....


80's hair metal.

 

I looked around a bit...wasn't too terribly impressed with the site. I'm not real big on adding unnecessary software to my pc. I'm a minimalist And the 30 second teaser clips just aggravate me

and 80's hair bands and michael buble????? Talk about an odd combo!

 

I use the software to keep track of what I listen to, learn about similar artists, and connect with people who share the same taste in music as I do.

The fact that I didn't need any additional software was nice too. Amarok has native support for it

I just wish it kept track of my car/ipod (runs rockbox, no apple software on that thing lol) music listening as my desktop computer is only ~10% of my music listening.

 

i'm in the same boat. The only time i listen to music on my PC is directly after i dl/rip it to make sure the quality is ok.

But in other news...
Listened to Massive Attack this morning....Aftersun and Teardrop...then a house mix of Sarah Mclachlan and Tori Amos

 

use flac, less worries about the quality that way

until I get an ipod with more storage space (currently a 6gb mini running Rockbox), the only way for me to get lossless is to use the original CDs in my car.. it works ok for now

 

Since my commute usually consists of flying halfway around the world, I'll just list some of the music I like. The invention of MP3 players has been wonderful, instead of lugging around 30-40 CDs I now have all my albums (more than 350 at last count). Lots of jazz, also alternative (which to me is a pretty broad spectrum), hard rock, pop. I can stand almost everything except twangy country and really hard core rap. Since being on board this time, I have bought the new Barenaked Ladies, new NIN, Jane Monheit, Hinder, Seether, new Joss Stone, and last but not least, Best of Rob Zombie (I love Dragula)!

While I'm home, I mix it up. I'll have some jazz (maybe even Michael Buble!), followed by NIN, more jazz, Triumph (80's Canadian band), jazz, Gwen Stefani...you get the idea. MY gf likes to listen to the radio but not the local rock station (too many memories of her ex). She tells me my jazz is too soft, hey, it keeps me from fllipping out on moron drivers.

 

I no longer have near that many CDs....i traded most of the ones i had off for other music or DVDs. I think the last actual purchase i made was TOOL - 10,000 Days.
Kinda curious to see if the new Linken Park disc is gonna be worth a flip.

I just want to have the means to play all of the music on my PC in my car.....I have an iPod shuffle....and I have a cd burner...but I haven't gone through the steps of actually purchasing a HU that plays mp3s or adding a way to play the shuffle in the car...I would like to find a HU that actually matches the rest of the interior...or change the dash lights to match the radio....but that's for another thread.

 

the new linkin park disc isn't even worth taking a poo on.

seriously. one of my roommates bought it and he is already trying to pawn it off on someone because he doesn't feel like throwing it away.

listening at the stations in store before making the unreturnable purchase is ftw.

the album is just god awful, no other way to say it.

I buy all of my music on CD so that I decide precisely how it gets encoded

 

Hello everyone, first post on this forum, excited to join. Been poking around for a while on this forum and really enjoy everyones input.

I drive 120miles a day to work at back.

listen to trance, metal, nu-jazz, talk radio

 

Listening to just about any music will get me pumped up in some way.

For about the last year or so I have been into mainly British bands. There is so much great music being made over there right now.
For the last week or so the new Arctic Monkeys CD is glued inside my player.

If I want to wind down, or just concentrate on driving and nothing else, I'll just drive in silence.
